Title: Altering Limit Breaks
Post by: Sage on 2004-10-09 02:05:26
I have been working on altering many of the FF7 characters, using high resolution models, changing weapon shapes and colors, and retexturing faces.  I'm now trying to find a way to swap out limit breaks, to optimize the Sephiroth patch and to change which creatures Vincent morphs into.

Does anyone know which file contains this information or have any ideas on how to modify it?  Teknoman Midnight wrote in his readme file for the Sephiroth patch, "If all else fails I'll give him summon spells and magic for limit breaks."  This leads me to hope that it may be possible.

Any help at all is highly appreciated.

I remember replacing Sephiroth's "saab" file with cloud's "raab" file by editing battle.lgp. The animations worked, however Sephiroth's model was all skewered and psycho looking when performing the limit breaks.

I'm not sure if that's where the info is stored, but it may help you in your search. I know little about programing, I just tinkered around by extracting/renaming/uploading files.

Hmm, no such luck here.  Switching those two files resulted in a crash for me, even after padding the 'raab' file to match.  Thanks for the suggestion, though.  :)

I wonder if this data is located in 'ff7.exe.'  I hope not, as I'm not sure how to modify the executable file.

Edit:  Oops, I think you meant 'rtab', which worked.  I see what you mean by skewered, but at least it worked.

Now if we could only find a way to change what he does in the limit break, maybe just link it to a spell or summon, it would work flawlessly.

Thanks EmperorSteele, that's a great idea.  I'll see if I can determine which file that is.
