There goes all chances of decent FF music from now on then.
IMO

I think this is better for Uematsu's music, although time will have to tell what effect it will have on future Final Fantasy games.
-
Having said that, If it gives him time to spend on Black Mages...then it can be very good on that front. Although its possible he will still work on FF games...but as a freelance, no?
-
I agree with Qhimm, because there are a lot of elitists in the music field that would say that he is not a real composer because he works on video games, which is kind of stupid, because he is a real composer.
-
Also, is it not possible now he is freelance, he will still do FF music?
-
Square probably still has access to GOOD composers.
Take Massashi Hamauzu, who did most of my favourite music in FFX.
Anyway, as I've read, he seems interesting now in working in the internation market, which may mean we get to see some of his music in American/Euro/Whatever games!
Although by the sound of things, he's taking a break from doing full OSTs. I bet we'll still see him back with Square in the future for the odd main theme, or few songs here and there.

Did Nobuo do the music for FFX-2? If so, then Nobuo/Square is making the right choice because the music in that game is none other than a return to the unending horrors of pop music hell. As for Final Fantasy, hopefully Square won't screw themselves over with more music that makes people want to prod their eardrums with long sharp objects.

It wasnt. It was the same person who did X I think.

Oh no, not Uematsu! I wonder who'll do the FF music from now on... we'll just have to wait and see, I guess :)
