Title: Window Service Pack2 problems.
Post by: Roxas on 2004-11-29 20:47:18
Ok, the game starts up just fine, but when I start a new game or load a game, it crashes. This is what I get when I click more info on the error:
Quote
AppName: ff7.exe    AppVer: 0.0.0.0    ModName: unknown
ModVer: 0.0.0.0    Offset: 00000000

If I have to remove SP2 I will. (I've tried to remove it through the add/remove progams, but I get an "access denied" message.)

I havent had any problems with FFVII and I have SP2 for XP O_O

Did you fiddle with your FFVII graphic settings and such? or maybe you have a codec thats screwing with your video (like I did... ogm codecs mess with the cinematics and make it crash)... I'm sure its not SP2 cuz I havent had any probs with it yet

No problems with SP2 here.

Try reinstalling the game and playing it with only the 1.02 patch and Chocobo patch.  If it works with those, then go ahead and try other things like FF7Music again.

Just a note, but I'm pretty sure that you CAN"T uninstall SP2 once it's loaded.. Some of M$'s hotfixes you can but not the SPs..

Um, you can definately uninstall SP2.  I did it lots of times during the beta and I know a few people who uninstalled it because they didn't like it.

Make sure you check the "Show Updates" box in the Add/Remove Programs control panel if you can't find it.
