Is the game supposed to exit after the "500 years" FMV??

Not sure about that but it's the end of the game so does it matter? The PSX version you couldnt save afterwards anyway.

Or are you maybe trying to find and filter out bugs in FF7w?

Not really, I just thought it was odd that the game exits when the Game is Over.
