OK, well this is a General Forum so anything goes. :-)

At my school they have WindowsNT running on all the machines and they have disabled access to the CD-ROM Drives and Disk Drives ..urrrgh!!!!

Anyway I really wanna get winzip on one of these computers coz there is a Direct Line to the net @ c.2MB which is pretty sweet and nearly all of the files that I want to d/l are in .zip format which renders them pretty useless as there isn't a copy of winzip on any computer, and I cant download it from the net as they have blocked downloads of .exes.  (Sometimes I can d/l them but bery rarely)

OK, so the long and short of it is : How can I read a CD when admin has turned off user privileges, does anyone know.

get someone to email u (at your collegde accnt) a copy of the dos winzip or something.

its possible to boot an NT machine with a DOS boot disk, so make a clean (virus free) boot disc and boot the machine with the disc then copy winzip file off the boot disc, and reboot.

It also depends on how the Network is setup. If the network is an NT based domain, then you are being restricted by the NT Policy file that the sytem admin has made.

If you are using a Novell Netware Network, then it is more then likely either the login script, or your Object/Property rights.

Either way, you CAN hack into the system, just search the using google or something. As a System Admin I understand why you have had your rights restricted, so I can't help you more then this.

really if they turned off boot disk access you cant.. cuz you cant take apart a machine in class.. i am sure they use ntfs... cuz fat is just the file allocation table for win 98 and 95 and i believe ME.. NTFS is the file allocation table for Win NT.. i think it has to be that way... but i cant describe how to hack a system like that cuz i gotta be there to do it.. so much crap and messages to deal with it takes time.

Ok, thanks guys, now I have another question to put to you!

My schools internet connection runs through a proxy server / blocking mechanism which blocks access to sites which have the word "game" as their keywords, well anywway I found a few sites that bypass other sites keywords such as IDZAP and anonymiser and so I could look @ these sites, however now my school has got wind of this and has blocked most of these as well.

I was wondering if anybody knows of any sites which have possibly cgi scripts which let you type in the url of any site and it will open it up in a frame which bypasses the schools blocking feature.

I've a similar problem with my proxy. I've only figured one thing to do, which is to look up the sites in Google and then view Google's cache of the page. From there I can usually navigate through the site because my proxy usually only blocks a site's front page.

i dont know about cgi scripts but um well actually i dont really know anyother pages that do that... try surfing crack sites and see what u get...if its a smart adimn forget it unless u know what ur doing cuz this crap can get u kikt outta school...

Yep, well now they've blocked me permanantly username and everything so I can only log on on me m8s accounts, hee hee

tweak the server.......... cause we all know they just leave these lying around where anyone can get to them..........

BTW - NTFS is the DEFAULT FAT for NT, but you don't *have* to have it as that. You can also use Fat16 (Not FAT32).

As for the web sites, depending on the proxy used, you might be able to get to a page using the ip address, instead of the text URL. Use a sit like http://dns411.com  to reslove the URL to the IP.

You'd be surprised at the complexity of the security on some school networks-my old middle school's Win2k network was a MASSIVELY difficult thing to overcome. However, I had access to the server room so I unlocked all access to my username so I could look at porn, etc. in class (I have INCREDIBLY bad handwriting so I have special seating)
