Hey, i just had an idea...
FF7 gets gridlines when using AA probably because the background files are in a wierd, compressed file format. So, what if we just changed 'em to a more stable or usable file format?
I tried at least uncompressing the data and putting it back, but this resulted in crashes =(
Anyone with more familiarity with ff7s file structure have any ideas?

I think it's because the background is split up into 16x16 "tiles," and the gridlines appear on the border of those tiles. If that's the case, just having the background decompressed wouldn't fix anything, you'd have to completely change how it works.

hmmm, are you sure?. I've seen lines appear around objects and take wierd shapes that dont conform to the 16x16 grid =/

Yes, but sometimes the backgrounds are in "layers" (layers that scroll differently or layers you can walk behind) and these will have "gridlines" as well. :-P
