Title: Get Aeris to stop being a default member?
Post by: Niai on 2005-05-15 12:49:33
I'll keep this short. Using Qhimm's exquisite JENOVA trainer I have Aeris back into the party, but since the last time she was legitimately in the party at the temple of the ancients she was a default member, it is impossible for me to take her out of the party and sit her in the roster. Instead, I need to swap her in and out of the party with JENOVA again every time I want to get rid of her. Is there any way to get around this? I'd prefer her to act like an ordinary member instead.

Thank you.

Anyone? It wouldn't be a huge problem, but it makes it impossible for me to use her for the final battle, since when the game forces her into the party roster and I am forced to make a team, I can't take her out of it either.

No I don't think this is possible.

Actually, it's quite possible.

Found it!

First, you'll need lazy game editor( found here) http://www.download.com/LazyGame-Memory-Editor/3000-2121_4-10386322.html?tag=lst-0-1

Now, install the program, set task to ff7.exe, add an address and edit it to 00dc0ddc, set the value to 0, and ff7 will have all party members unlocked, so you can take them in and out of your party in the PHS menu!

I was able to figure this out when I discovered that if you take a table of known addresses for another mem editor I used long ago (check the ff7 tables in www.gamehack.com ), each address will exactly corrospond to a an address in lazy game editor, offset by a certain value (add EA18 to the origional gamehshark address with the calculator included in windows (in hex))

example

Code for unlocking all party members in gamehack
00db23c4 value = 0

add EA18 with to the address and you get the address in lazy game editor!
00dc0ddc valude = 0 !

I've only tested this with a few known addresses, but it works perfectly so far. This should be able to solve your problem sir! I love discovery : )

Hmm... I tried it and couldn't seem to get the memory editor to work properly. When I tried to set the task to FF7.exe I couldn't find it in the list of available tasks. I'll try again  later. Thanks for replying by the way.

Did you have ff7 running at the time? (You need to have the game running, then alt+tab to the memory editor program)

If you still have problems, feel free to email me a copy of your save file, and I can do it myself.

Hah, I see what u did there.

Even has a built in gamehack converter. Very nice! I can't seem to get it to work for what i'm trying to do at the moment, though. I'll try to figure it out tomorrow.

Also, as a note to niai, I seem to recall that to fully get Aeris *fixed up* after bringing her back, you need to have her battle in the arena at least once. It'll fix some annoying issues (Like her image not showing up in store menus, and I think that if you take her out of your party via PHS without doing this she'll *dissapear*, and you'll need to edit her back in again.
