Title: Iron Man and the Escort Guard
Post by: Kenyai on 2005-06-25 07:21:27
This will probably require a look into where the battles for the Battle Square are stored... Is it ever possible to fight Iron Man in the Battle Square? If so, it seems that would be the only way to obtain a total of 99 Escort Guards in the inventory without plainly cheating. Kao Megura's FAQ says he can be found there, but I only found Wolfmeister there, and only found Iron Man in those battles just before Jenova SYNTHESIS.

What would suck horribly is if you could fight him, but only at a part of the game before the end. But I doubt that's the case because Wolfmeister seems to be a weaker version of Iron Man... If finding out monster appearances is easy (stored in some file that's just LZS compressed and easy to figure out), then I would be grateful to learn about it.

Why do you need 99 of those ?

Iron Man is not found in the Battle Square.
Iron Man only appears in battle ID 225.
That means there is one field where he can be found, and one field only.

You can draw your own conclusions.

Thank you for the info, L. Spiro.

mirex, ever since a year ago I've been doing basically everything I see possible on FF7 including getting as many as possible of each item. The W-Item trick is allowed, but not a gameshark or dexdrive. I already finished getting 255 on all of the 8 final characters' stats entirely independent of their weapon bonuses, which I obtained from Kao Megura's FAQ... Basically I'm obsessive-compulsive. The toughest items to max will be the chocobo racing ones that only appear as prizes like once per half hour.

Hmmm... not quite.  Right conclusion, wrong points.

The Battle ID is 900, which is found in file 225.  Each file has 4 IDs.  Secondly, a battle ID used for Battle Square does not have to have the Battle Square background - all it needs is the data for the next battle in the series, and even that doesn't matter for the final battle.

Hell Rider VR2, as an example, only has one Battle ID: 70.  Yet it is found in both Battle Square and on the Junon Wastelands.

Iron Man doesn't appear in the Battle Square because none of the code leads to its Battle ID.  That's all the proof you need.

I'm wondering what you'll do when you find out it's possible (if insanely difficult) to max out each character's HP and MP, including getting Barret's HP to 9999 naturally ^_^;

I got it.
I misread the label of the 225 in my notes.
Battle ID 900, but FILE 225.

He still appears in only one field (and battle), and, as for stating that he does not appear in the Battle Square, I drew this conclusion from another set of data; not the file/battle ID information.

Regardless of misreading the label in my notes, I knew/know for certain he does not appear in the Battle Square.

It’s about time you appeared again, Terence Fergusson.

Does that mean you got all the soldier 1/32?  The most I've ever seen are 3, and I don't know what they're for.  Of course, I havn't searched much.  But then again, I have 29 to go...

1/32 is actually the scale.  it is a toy soldier 1/32 the size of a normal one.
