Hey I Accidentally erased my ff7.reg need it again I dont know what I did but when I click on ff7.exe it all is good but when i click on new game it says load disc 1 please help thanks
-
As far as I know there is no 'ff7.reg' in original game ...
Reinstalling would be the best way to go.
-
And what happens when you put in disk one…?

It says Please insert disk 1
-
...Have you tried just reinstalling the game?
-
If you have more than one cd-rom drive you might have to change the "DataDrive" subkey to be on a different drive.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Square Soft, Inc.\Final Fantasy VII
Under this will be a subkey called DataDrive. Change this to the drive you want.
If it is already set to the drive you want then yeah just reinstalling the game...

Hey can you give me an example of what my ff7 regestry should look like

He just did. And beyond that, no.
Reinstalling FF7 and running the configuration program always correctly sets the registry keys. The only reason you would have problems with this particular bit, or indeed have a ff7.reg file to begin with, is if you're using a downloaded rip. Which we won't help you with.

Your Final Fantasy VII registry keys must be correct because you can run ff7...
If they were missing or corrupt it would tell you this: Unable to locate registry key. Please re-install Final Fantasy VII.
Do you have more than one cd-rom drive?
What drive do you have your DataDrive subkey set at?
-
I am not sure what my datadrive key is set at. yes i have 2 drives. im just not sure what goes in my data drive
-
Better ask this first... Do you own the game?
Well you could try putting the cd in your other drive.
-
You have to run the game from the CD drive that you installed it on.
I nearly got a new CD drive a while back cause it wouldn't run.
So yeah, try the other drive.
-
yes i own the gamr :)
-
Then, seriously, have you tried reinstalling it?
That should restore the registry and set the data drive to whichever drive you install the game from.
-
The warezed version of the game comes with a ff7.reg file that sets the game up in the registry and, if I remember correctly, somehow overrides the need for a CD. And as far as I know, that's the ONLY ff7.reg out there.
-
I've justed typed ff7.reg into google, and Contra's right. The ff7.reg is a file for the pirated version of FF7 (as everyone suspected).
So it's time to close this thread now.
No warez support here.
