well yeah i know this is a very common problem, ive installed every patch, nothing, ive read through the faq, and all the other ones so with no luck i decided to post a new thread seeking help. My friend gave me his ff7 PC and i installed it and everything but when i load disc 1 up i get a black screen, i can hear music but no visuals, then i get to new game and continue i hit new game again only music SOMETIMES i see green outlines of what the fmv sequences look then i get into the actual game(which i can see and play). i can play the whole game without fmv showing BUT DAMN ITS ANNOYING! it takes away so much from ff7 which is greatly known for its fmv sequences. when i browse the disc and click on movies i can watch the movies no problem on media player but its not the same when im playing. ive installed every patch exept that one animevamp made cuz the first time i used it it screwd up my backround so i unin, rein ff7.
heres my specs:
Windows XP pro
Intel Pentium 4, 2.8ghz hyper thread
512Mb Ram
160gig hdd
ATI radeon 9200 SE
maybe if i install old media player it would work??
edit: an extra question i just read bout an ultima edition designed to correct problems for xp, does it correct the fmv sequences? i know thats its not a legal copy but if the actual legal copy that i posses won't even work on my xp and i really wanna play it...i dont have many other options...

Can you play the movies directly through windows media player?
Have you tried applying this patch:
http://aaronserv.dyndns.org/hosting/ffsf/downloads/ff7betap1.exe
It usually resolves these kind of issues.
Edit: Oh, you can watch them though WMP. Hmm, well still apply the patch and try, you never know.

hey yeah i already installed that patch a while back. im still getting black screens =\ i can play the whole game perfectly its just i dont have the fmv sequences

Are you able to play the FMVs off the discs in Windows Media Player? There's a bunch of .avi files on the CDs... try that?

AFAIK the Ultima edition doesn't come with movies (is that right???). I think they just appear as a black screen.
Anyway, bye everyone.. off on holiday for two weeks with the girlfriend! Myrtos (http://mechatro2.me.berkeley.edu/~iakovos/images/img_1038.jpg) then onto Fiscardo (http://www.heerenvanmalden.nl/wallpapers/kefalonia-fiskardo-port_1600.jpg) in Kefalonia. 8)

I got the Ultima edition to check it out and it does indeed come with all movies and works on XP straight after installation.
I might find it useful for reinstalling FF7 but the hi-res patch doesn't work on it so I can't find any use for it (my curiosity wasted a gig of my bandwidth).

Kanye: Try disabling Hyperthreading. I've heard that some older games don't play nice with it.
I dunno how to do that, prolly in the BIOS, cuz, I'm an AMD guy =P
Also, try mucking with different driver sets for your video card. That could be the problem, too.
