Title: FF7 menu
Post by: Fredizdman on 2005-07-05 16:14:44
I can't even get my menu to run, from the start. I'm really not a computer guru, but I can tell you I'm using Windows 2000, and have installed the chocobo, v 1.02, and ff7betap1 patch. The game just simply crashes when I try to view the menu. sound hangs and b4 long I'm back to the desktop. Can someone help?

It also crashes after battle when u would see the exp points and such...basically anytime the menu/equip screen tries to run, runs perfect;y otherwise, battle swirls and all.

i'm having the exact some problem. it ran well when i had Win 98, but it is just hating win 2000. I'll keep looking at the patches out there but it's seeming a bit hopless as long as you have 2000.

I don't know how to get it working with Win2000....but from what I remember, not everyone could get it to work. Win2000 is pretty much a dead OS as far as FF7PC is concerned.

If you search this forum you may find instruction of FF7PC on Windows 2000. But they will be old instructions if you do...and probably won't be accurate as far as DirectX and such.

I almost feel like a newbie for constantly telling people this, but if it did not do this on Windows 98 try running the game in compatibility mode set for that operating system. Right click FF7.exe, Properties, Compatibility, check the box and select Win98.
