Title: Trouble putting files inside scene.bin with scene_create
Post by: Elentor on 2005-07-11 19:12:18
I'm posting this here because I'm having trouble trying to compress files using scene_create.exe, a program which has been posted here some time ago ... the original post with the file is here:
http://forums.qhimm.com/viewtopic.php?t=2714&highlight=scenecreate

Since I haven't seen the author anymore, and my e-mails to him are returning, I thought the only solution would be posting here, hoping that someone actually used that program.

When I run it, I get the following error in DOS:
"nom was unexpected in this moment"
and it crashes, giving me the following information:

AppName: scene_create.exe AppVer: 0.0.0.0  ModName: ntdll.dll
ModVer: 5.1.2600.0 Offset: 0002e22a

Basically, I'm trying to run it in the same folder as the other 256 uncompressed files. It does generate an empty (0 byte) scenenew.bin file, though. Attempt to run in other folders return me just the error, not even the file.

The author didn't specify much help information, so I'm quite in the limbo. Am I supposed to have gzip in the same folder? If yes, *what* version of gzip?

Thanks in advance

Does this thing do what I THINK it does?

Well, I really don't know what you are thinking. If I could, I am sure I would be rich by now :D

It's a program composed of two modules: scene_extract.exe extracts all gzipped files from scene.bin and scene.create.exe makes a new scene.bin from these files.

Extracts backgrounds out of FF and allows you to repack them?

Maybe try this program (http://underlab.pl/divide/mav/SceneReader.zip) of mine. I wrote it long time ago, but it _should_ work.

The server for this file is unfortunately down. :(

Could you mirror it on some file-storages, like http://www.megaupload.com or so? That would be great! :D

I just said this because of completing the general collection of available FF tools. The more the better.
