Post by: Dakotakid44 on 2005-08-30 01:43:59
I am up to the part where cloud starts going loony.  The movie went fine after cloud puts the black materia with sepiroth, but when weapon comes out and starts flying away it crashes. I would really appreciate some help.

Hi!

If you can't send your game to Dziugo (or wanted another solution), you can turn your game to run in software rendering mode and after this point re-activate the hardware aceleration.
Check if the executable (ff7.exe) is in win98 compatibility mode ( file properties), this may help sometimes...
  Good luck!

Putting direct Sound acceleration into basic acceleration had fixed that problem on my PC, once.... But at the time, it was because the sound of the movie was off with what was showing. And I think I was using Win98 at the time....so, probably won't work.

But if you wanna try it.... Just type dxdiag in the "run..." menu of windows. And go to the Sound tab and move the slider, until it says basic.

In your ff7 folder, find a one called "save". There should be many save-games inside :). Grab the correct one and send it to me (check profile for details).

How do you know it's the correct one? Check which slot is your save-game in (TIP: there are only 10 slots :P) subtract a 1 from this, and send me a file with that number in it's name. fe: If your save-game is in 7th slot, you send me a file called "save06.ff7".

And i think that I'll upgrade gypt to handle bypassing that scene too...

BTW: you can always copy-paste my nick if it's hard to type

I'm having the same problem. I tried everything suggested here, it gets about 2 seconds farther into the video and crashes again. Any other suggestions? Or can someone (...dziugo?) help out?

(This is the first time I haven't been able to find a fix to a problem on the boards already so I finally had to register  :) )

Try playing the movie in windows media player. I had the same crash due to an error in the movie file, got around it by clipping away that frame.
