Title: Crash before the Eidos Logo
Post by: bgwelistyl on 2005-09-17 20:40:39
I've searched the forums for a solution to my problem but I couldn't find anything.

I have everything updated, patched, etc

I run Win XP SP2 with an ATI x800 XT. I tried using the FF Config with all settings (running software and then direct3d), still nothing.

My problem arises when I start up the game.

I hear the sound for the Eidos Logo but I don't actually see the video

This is what error XP gives me

AppName: ff7.exe    AppVer: 0.0.0.0    ModName: ff7.exe
ModVer: 0.0.0.0    Offset: 0001864f

anybody have any other suggestions?

Possibly lack of TrueMotion2.0 codec. Check if the movies are played in Windows Media Player (or any other player).

If not, install it from your Install Disk ("Install Movie Player"). That should fix it. Remember to reboot.

Post back on problems.

I had this problem as well and the "upside-down movie" patch did indeed fix it (huzzah!)

Ok... That will be some kind of hardcore:

 - Uninstall your current codecs (all of them), and install them again. Just make sure TrueMotion2.0 is the first one to be installed.

OR

Other soultion:
 - Hmm... Wait for other tips?
