Title: FF7 crashing at random

First of all, Hello to everyone. These boards rock for FF7 fans, and have to say great work on all the add-ons, tweaking, etc. I've been visiting these boards a lot just never registered.


Well I been playing FF7 for about 2-3 days now (just started a new game). I have the reunion patch installed (which is sweet btw). I have the 1.02 FF7.exe and FF7Config files as well. I also have FF7Music thing to have my own music. Ever since I started playing, I get a blue screen error at random. It happens during battle only. It says "page fault" in an nv4_disp.dll. Getting kind of annoying   :evil:

I have a Geforce FX 5700LE with the latest Forceware drivers installed.
2.6ghz pc
1.5GB ddr ram


My FF7Config file does NOT have the nvidia check box checked (it works fine with no TNT stuff), and I have the 2x2 anti-aliasing enabled.

What could this be?

First thing you need to check.
Does it crash without all of the extra patches?

I would try that, but I read elsewhere that reverting back to older drivers corrects this. I reverted from 72.41 to 66.93 and haven't had it happen since. If it happens again, Ill do what you said. Thanks.

when u play ff7 its not so smart to go out in windows and into the game again .cuz when u enter a battle your game will crash......maybe this thing dose'nt happen to evryone but defenetley it happens for me

Hey me too TyranN! Each time I minimize the fullscreen and then restore it, it crashes. It happens each time I go into battle too. Does anyone else have the same problem or know how to fix it?

As far as I know... I think one of the patches around here accidentally fixed that problem.... maybe it was The SaiNt's Hi-Res patch..

I'm not positive.. but I remember reading something being accidentally fixed (possibly) by a mod/patch.. pretty sure it was that..
