Hi there,
I'm having trouble getting past the highway chase scene. The FMV before the game works fine, but after a few seconds of playing the game, it crashes. It seems to be happening everytime I try this, but has never happened when I've played the game before.
I've tried searching the forum to find a solution, but nothing thats been suggested seems to have worked at all. I've also tried re-installing the game and using minimal patches, but still nothing.
I was wondering if anyone else had a suggestion for a way to get the game to play properly - and if not then would it be possilbe to send my game save to someone who could get past it and send it back?
Thanks in advance
p.s. I am using a legal version of the game before anyone asks :P

I think it could be very helpful if you post your computer's specs, too.

Ok,
I'm running it on:
Windows XP SP2
Pentium 4 2.80GHz
512MB DDR Ram
NVidia GeForce FX 5200
And I have installed the 1.02 patch
Don't really know what else to post! :P

have you tried setting windows 98 compatibility mode?
-
Yeah, I've tried that and it still isnt working :(

Wasn't there a patch last month that fixed problems with the highway chase and snowboard section of the game?
-
Hmmmm, I just tried search for a patch for both of them, but I don't seem to be able to find either!

That patch won't help you with Highway minigame crashing.

I did find the patch you were talking about, it did manage to slow down the minibike game nicely, but as dziugo said, it didn't stop it crashing...

I can think of two things to try...doens't mean it'll work, though.
You can try putting Direct Sound Acceleration into basic mode. Type dxdiag in the "Run..." menu of Windows. Then go to the Sound Tab...and move the slider bar. You don't need to reboot for it to take effect.
You can then try to playing thru in Quarter screen mode (in the FF7config file). For some reason Quarter screen mode will get you thru a few hangups that the game has. It's been that way since FF7 was released. Don't ask me why, though.
