I hope no one tells me that I am slow on the news, but I just read that in Japan the anime series Final Fantasy: Unlimited has been released. It's a new story that also takes place on earth just like the movie. I was very excited about this because I always wanted a final fantasy anime series to come out. I hope it's good. I don't know much about it, so put some info in here if you know something more. Here is the link to the site that I read this:

Technically speaking, this is the SECOND Anime to have the FF name on it. The First being Final Fantasy: Legend of the Crystals, which basicly is set about 200 years after FF5.
This new show sounds good. Despite the show having only just aired, they are expecting it to run a total of about 52 episodes.
It's about the children of a Doctor and his wife. The doctor and wife find a "dimentional portal" and go through it. After coming back and writing a journal about it, they go again, but don't return. Their two kids (About 7-12 I'd say) decide to go after them. They drag along a girl, who looks about 14-16. After entering the new dimention, they meet up with a mysterious "hero" (Who reminds me of Vincent, visually) from that world, who has lost his memory. (Surprise, surprise.) Together they look for the kid's parents, while battleing the evil monsters that have begun to invade Earth.
At least, that's the info I read this morning on a fan site who mentioned something about it.

Yeah, you are right. It is the second anime, but the first one was on video only. This one is a full fleged anime series, the story is something that I am looking forward to see. I read about what it was about, and I liked it. As a matter of fact, I was making a "final fantasy" story sometime ago, and it involved a transdimensional portal and some twins. When I read the story, I was amazed that it was pretty close to what I had in mind for a final fantasy game or anime. Actually, I wanted my story to be for a final fantasy anime. It's kinda like having your story made by other people and aired on TV, of course without giving you credit, but it is the idea of something that you had in mind to actually come true. I wanted this anime to come out so bad, I was actually thinking that if I became a millionaire or something, I would make a deal with SquareSoft so that they would make an anime. I am still excited about this news.
By the way, if anyone knows about the Final Fantasy:Unlimited episodes being fansubed or being distributed on the Internet, Please let me know ([email protected]) or post it on this thread. Thanx.

Wazzap, it seems that there are not a lot of people in this board anymore.

Hey, your anime links crash my computer!!!
-
There seems to be something wrong with the links, I tried them and they work, the next day I tried them and they didn't work. I'll try to see what's up.

I tried them right now, and they seem to be alright. The links don't crash my computer. Man, I keep getting lucky and happy. First it's the new Final Fantasy anime, then I bought this CD from the Misfits that really kicks ass, and then I was asked if I wanted to go out on a date. Cool.

hehe Legend of the Crystals sucked so much ass IMHO. I hope unlimited is better.

Hey, I just found this out.
It seems that SquareSoft was planning on doing a 3D final fantasy on N64, and that it was announced after the release of FFVI, but because of high production costs they decided to go with Sony.
This website: http://www.jzcool.net/ff/ffsgi/ffsgistory.htm (http://www.jzcool.net/ff/ffsgi/ffsgistory.htm) displays information

awesome huh!!!!!!

Actually it went along the lines of:
Square start developing for a Nintendo CD based system, however nintendo realises that the production costs of CD's are too high for them so go back to cartridges. Square are now stuck with an almost completed game that won't fit on a cart, sony have PS system with cd's, square go to sony. The game is FF7 and the 3d demo is just a tech demo of the N^ when it was a CD unit.
I think FF7 would have been much better on the 64, nintendo would have made them finish the game before releasing it, ie the revive aeris quest.
-
that would be cool, except for the fact that nintendo sucks now.
-
That would've been cool if Square HAD finished some of the loose ends in FF7, but I think a revive Aeris quest would've destroyed the whole game. I would've completely cheapened Aeris' death, and death in general for that matter.
---edit---
Yeah, sad to say it, but Nintendo has been pretty bad as of late.

Actually, they were thinking of releasing a computer 3D game. The only problem was that SGIs were the only systems, at the time, that could handle the 3D nessicary. Now any computer running a good videocard can get the same performance out of it.
I actually have movies of that demo somewhere on my HD. It looks pretty good. Better than any other FF game I've seen so far. However, the GFXs in 10 blows it away.

I am downloading Final Fantasy Unlimited episode 3 right now. I have downloaded episode 1 and 2, but I haven't seen them. When I see them, I will post my review here. I've been slow all this week. School has started, and I think this fool (me) has also fallen in love with a girl who doesn't appreciate him. I'll get through it too.

This is a test to see if my avatar is working.

looks like it does

Do you realise that the Japanese pronounce fantasy as fantaji?
FF: Unlimited = Digimon/Pokemon storyline + animation.
Wonder when will it appear on ntv7, dubbed in english?
I'm still waiting.
-
I agree with Joey; THIS CAN ONLY END IN TEARS! MARK MY WORDS!
Someone should just kill square while they're ahead.

Square hasn't learn its lesson with FF:TSW that is making a blurred storyline. Square should release this earlier than pokemon and digimon to catch the attention of children. Although this one has chocobos, but it will still be a giga failure as the storyline is too confusing to kids. The animation shows that it is targeted for kids, despite most FF fans are teens and adults.
-
Well, I don't know if you saw the episodes or not, but I like it. I just saw the first 2 episodes, and in my opinion it is a Final Fantasy. So far the storyline seems interesting. The characters have that 80's anime look, but the animation looks cool. The way the characters are drawn, and the way the animation effects are done makes an appealing mixture (for me, I don't know about others). I have to say that it is a little bit weird, and that it's more fantasy than science fiction. I have seen pokemon and digimon, and I don't think Final Fantasy: Unlimited follows the same storyline. The summons are something to look forward to.
If you haven't seen the anime, give it a try. If you don't know where find it, try Morpheous or the likes. Or if you have a streamload account, post your account ID and I will send you the first 2 or 3 episodes. Well, I'm going to see episode 3 now.
-vvalentine
-
I've downloaded all 6 of the episode trailers. They look like pokemondigimon 2 me.
-
Well, lets put it this way. If you saw a trailer of a movie, and it looked very cool in the trailers. And then you went to see the movie, and reallized that it actually sucked. Same thing applies here, but vice-versa. I saw the trailers too, and it didn't surprised me. But I saw the first 3 episodes, and I am very pleased with what I saw. Believe me, this anime cannot be compared with Pokemon or Digimon (especially the storyline, Poke/Digi's storyline seems to never end). Let's just see how it unfolds, and then we'll make more judgements. A lot of the scenery reminded me of past Final Fantasies, especially FFIV.

......if it suits you....
vvalentine....hmmmmmm. Do you post in the Gamingforce forums?

I don't know. I have posted in so many boards I don't remember. Maybe, but it might also be someone with my same handle. I usually post in anime boards, but I post the most here.

Alright, here are my thoughts of FFU. It seems that in the game there will only be one person who can summon beasts, and that person is Kaze. The way he summons the beasts is done by mixing 3 different colors together. A combination of certain colors will summon a beast. The main character doesn't use a sword, this is something new (Except for FF:TSW). In order for Kaze to summon, he has to be in a certain mood (not berserk though). Another thing that I found kinda interesting is the term Unlimited. Unlimited is someone that has a greater power than the gods. There is some strange character that appears in the anime that it says that Kaze is Unlimited. He doesn't say it to Kaze or anyone, but he is just observing Kaze and when he sees his power he concludes that he is Unlimited. So far I have seen Phoenix, Typhoon, and Shiva being summoned. Typhoon is pretty cool.
-vvalentine
-
I wanna see it too. But I don' know Japanese.
-
It's fansubbed already. It was fansubbed by a group called Soldats. I know a little bit of Japanese, but I can't understand a whole dialog. That's why I waited more than a month after it came out to actually see it. I like the music and the songs, both the opening and the ending.
By the way, Sephiroth 3D, I bought this book to learn Direct3D game programming. That way if you need any more help with the graphics in the FFR project, I'll hopefully be of some use.

Message!
-
Oh man........I'd wish it appear in Malaysia...................................................
-
VValentine: Umm ... that's good ... but the Remake uses OpenGL.
If you can program we might need your skills, but Direct3D won't be among them
-
Damn it, and I was in the book store trying to decide whether to buy a book to program Direct3D or OpenGL. Oh well, I hope that both aren't that different. Anyways, I'm thinking of doing a fighting game (2D right now, 3D maybe later) with the Final Fantasy characters. It would be like Marvel vs. Capcom, but with FF characters using their special moves. That should take me a while.
-vvalentine
-
Well, 3d programming is 3d programming - basic techniques are the same whatever.
2d fighting game...? more complex than you might think. Well, good luck learning Direct3d...
-
Actually, I think doing a 2D-fighting game using a 3D game engine would be cool. You'd have to make it so that the characters are displayed on a 2+ polygon panel, with animations and everything... That way, you can easily add in new 3D characters without making major changes in your engine.

Joey: If you don't have access to fast Internet, because I am nice guy, I am willing to send you a CD with the first 4 episodes all the way to Malaysia or whereever you live. Just don't blame me if you receive a little bit of Anthrax (Just kidding). If you do have fast Internet, use WinMX and save me some money (It costs about $2 to send a CD across the ocean, but it takes a long time). This is just because I like promoting good anime, and I believe FFU is a good anime. I get most of my downloads for free, but it costs money to the people who distribute it. I guess it would be my time to help out a little bit.
