Title: .DLS vs. .SF2
Post by: Shinzaku on 2006-06-07 00:50:53
(Not sure if this is the right forum, but here goes nothin':)

Looking through both Final Fantasy VII and Final Fantasy VIII, I've noticed that FF7 uses soundfonts(if you allow it) for it's midi files. While on the other hand FF8 appears to be using it's own .DLS file.
My question is:
Which is better, .DLS or .SF2? Or rather, what are their strengths and weaknesses?

I'm just curious is all.

DLS is used by DirectX Midi Synth, SF2 was initially developed for Live! soundcards.
