Post by: The SaiNt on 2001-10-15 01:26:00
I broke my copy of LGPtools.
I tried reinstalling it but it still won't work
Actually, every function works except "Create LGP"
Anyone know what's wrong?

This sounds like a job for ... uber-Ficedula!

OK. LGP Tools isn't too complex so there's a limited number of things that can go wrong with it.

1) Make sure it's in a folder by itself, with NO other files in the folder (except possibly the Ficedula library code, if you haven't installed that in WindowsSystem).

2) Look for FICEDULA.INI (prob in Windows folder) and delete all the sections to do with LGP tools, should be obvious which ones are which.

3) Umm ... ok, I'm grasping here ... try another version of it & see if that works?

Actually, I'm just about to upload a new version of LGP Tools (possibly tonight?).

I've got that problem with 'create new lgp' from the beginning. It simply doesn't create a new one. But I didn't mind, b'cause I was mostly workin' on single files, not on archives.

Well, one common problem with 'Create LGP' (which it DOES mention in the later versions) is that you shouldn't create the new LGP in the same folder you're taking source files from ... because then it tries to include itself in the archive, which kind of doesn't work...

Nope. At least, I don't think so.

Anyhow, I've uploaded a newer version of LGP Tools ... though I doubt it'll fix anything that doesn't work in the current version, you could try it out.

Ok, I'll try it tonight.
But I'm working on a surprise for some people

*EDIT*
Nope, doesn't work either.
I tried the latest version & I even tried removing ficedula.ini completely. Yes, it is in a folder by itself.
I have yet to try an older version though.
Maybe it got broken...
Fice, does "create LGP" work on your system"

Well, it used to ... k, I'll try it now.

Dammit, it doesn't work for me! OK; bug fixing approaching...

UPDATE: Uploaded a newer version. I did manage to create an LGP with this one (mental note: testing is good!) so give this one a go...

OK, semi-update: I've moved my webpage onto the house server. I'm gonna leave the Legacy site up, but I may well switch to using the house server page when it's stable (has some advantages, like, it's in my house so I can tweak it, upload to it far easier and quicker, etc.)

The pages are at

anyway.

When I get DSL, I'm going to move our company webserver to our house, then run my own server underneath it.

When that happens, I'll have a place to host the final Remake files, not to mention a super version of my website. Prob v3.0. Hmm.. I need to release 2.0...
