Alhexx Your english is quite good (I presume you're german?). Mr Pond, I'm just excited about uni, can't wait to get away from home! I figured that survival breeds nessecity, so any skills I don't have now to survive, I'll learn em!

I've been studing computer sience at the UPC here in Spain for 5 years. Theorically, I should have finished last year, but very few finish in 5 years. I supose it will take 1.5 years more to finish. I'm so tired... and bored.

I'll be going to UCL to do Physics! Have you got your accomadation sorted out yet? I'm going to be living in Camden  8-).

Well I've heard uni has alot more people, which suits me because I'm a people person. Lectures are meant to be very strict and no talking, I don't know about tutorials. I'm guessing uni is like everything else in life, its as good as you make it.

I'm going into my second year and I live at home. I have a place next year for a house in New Cross because I can't really afford to move out for more than 1 year.

More people is an understatement. You can get away with talking in lectures because the lecturers assume that you discuss what they are talking about amoungst yourselves. I have however used this as an opportunity to demonstrate my knowledge of the film cool runnnings, complete with accents. A mate of mine got up mid lecture and asked the lecturer where he got his hair cut (we were all a bit drunk...shouldn't give us 5pm lectures really...).

Tutorials are fairly informal but you get a right bollocking if you don't turn up (I missed one because my car broke down).

So how do people react to the loners and the computer literate?  Or both rolled into one?

Well a lot of people are computer literate anyway, and nows your chance to no longer be a loner. Make friends.

Im right pissed off, I have uni internet now, and it blocks near enough everything except web browsing.

any form of online game
Ventrilo/teamspeak
Bit Torrent
FTP servers/downloads.

Hell, I cant even do an ADSL speed test because the network doesnt allow it.

Hahaha.... yeah BUT if you have internal P2P you can download films in like 5 minutes!

On my campus we all used a program called LUserNet, which I think was specifically designed for Lancaster Universty's network... but I see no reason why it shouldn't work on any other LAN.

Yay, today is the unofficial "Dr. Hill" day at my school. Dr. Hill is one of the professors, and he has a very distinct style of wearing his clothes: shorts, and a button-up shirt that's one button too low. In honor of this, everbody who knows (mostly just my residence hall) is emulating this style of dressing as much as they can.

I need to connect through the UCLAN proxy, Proxy.uclan.ac.uk, to access the web in the first place, so I cant use another proxy over that.

Is there even a way I can get a program to use a proxy?

Also, I need WoW >_>

I got kicked in the balls at uni today. metaphorically speaking

I passed off doing a minor assessment item for a team in one unit, to focus on a much more important assessment with my other team in a different unit... was in the uni from 8am till 8am after doing an all nighter a different assessment equally important. Only to end up getting stabbed in the back by two of the team members... now our group of four is two groups of two. And will now have to end up attending lame ebarassing meetings with the tutors to explain whos done what and so on...

Im sures yous dont care about any of that,
... and i just got distracted by disco stu over here  and lost completely what it was i was getting to...

So yeah, end of rant ~ time to get the groove on http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9_wU0qhEPR8, heh

You could always pay to use a HTTP tunneling program.

Edit: Though I'd like to point out how easy it is to block them and you could just end up loosing your money and back to square one.

speaking of that, I set up HTTPTunnel and Sockscap last night using the free version of it, and jesus christ.... yay for my 30,000 ping on World of Warcraft, and 5 minute lag between me saying something, and the reply on ventrillo.

I've been told I can get my own ISP either way, so im gonna go for a Wireless one, and let everyone in the flat use it too, for £5 a month.
