Finally, the exam's over!!!! I'm ordering a CD-RW and a Whore(Just joking (,well, blame it on the hormones).
Currently playing games:
Command and conqour: Red alert 2 Yuri's Revenge
FF8
Starcraft
Hey, for those of you living in Malaysia, if you notice FFX movies comes in boxed VCD sets with part one(3CDs) and part 2(2CDs). It even includes the chinise subtititle! The first part has a pic of yuna like the one in FFX game DVD and the second one has tidus looking over spira(Or is it?). Anyways, since Yuna(the one in the messageboard) wants those FFX movies so much, maybe she can come over here!!!
*Thanks god for making PMR so easy*

heh heh heh . . .
Joey I would OWN you in Starcraft
-
You've said it Joey!
::actually I was expecting harder papers::
::o0o0 yea!! o0o0o yea!!::
-
Question: Is FantasySquare closing down? Why can't I acess my email!!!?
-
hehe id own you ALL in starcraft
-
Darkness, shall we play sometime? I'm always up for a challenge.
-
Ill show you how to play Starcraft; If i can find some way how to connect on the inet from my comp.
Does anybody play Broodwar ?
-
I have Broodwarr but it is pirated. At last, I've completed all 7 allied missions in Yuri's revenge.
-
I have Broodwar, but I like regular SC better.
-
*needs to get Star Craft back off the freind who has had it for months*
Damnit!
-
My version of starcraft is pirated
-
TiadaghtonDude: Why? In broodwar there are pretty improvements, and races are more balanced. Lurkers, Valkyres, Corsairs and DarkOnes are great.
-
I prefer Red Alert 2: Yuri's Revenge Multiplayer Vs if you ask me. I'll definetley use Yuri's side.
"Be One With Yuri"
(What you hear when the Physic Dominator is activated)
Zerg free radio
Type this as cheat in starcraft to hear a special hidden soundtrack. Is it the overmind talking?
-
I've bought the 1st part of FFX the movie. I could post screenshots if there were someone who would host it for me.... Rikku has big boobs and butt. Tidus's hair doesen't move when blown by the wind.
FFX Questionnare
Q: What is Yuna doing in the picture of the FFX game DVD box?
a:Sending the dead spirits of the people killed by sin to heaven
b:summoning a monster
c:dancing between 2 sakura trees.
The intro of disc 1 of the VCDs is tidus and yuna kissing erotically.(Ive done that soooo many times with my girlfriend, of course not in public).
[edited] 39 2001-10-27 03:36
-
I actually kinda thought the new units threw the races OFF balance (i.e. Valks and Corsairs make Zerg air suck, medics make Marines just TOO awesome, e.t.c.)
Plus, I'm used to regular SC and the extra units throw me off.
-
Joey: FFX movie? Never heard of it, but send me the screenshots through email (check my profile) and I'll put them up on one of my hosts.
-
i play broodwar 1.07 because it isso much more balanced (i.e. i lurker drop)
-
Umm....it looks like print screen isn't possible with the movie. Does anyone have a program that can print screen VCD Players on the computer? I've tried the conventional way but all I get is a black screen.
-
Joey: try HypersnapDX at http://www.hyperioncs.com
-
Hey! It worked!
-
TiadaghtonDude: there is allways a way to make it. On valkyries and corsairs ... just split a little, so they wont hit all of your units at same time. And for marines .. it is easy for lurkers, or dark templars/zealots or siege tanks.
-
Lurkers aren't very good if the other guy has detectors.
I like fast zs/goons against marines. Keep the dragoons behind the zealots so they don't get attacked.
-
I discovered that you can wipe out a whole base with just a bunch of protoss carriers coupled with the invincible code. Just leave them onto the target enemy base and wait for about 5-10 minutes and the base dissapears. BTW, does anyone here play Shougun: Total War?
-
*Archon Voice* Lameness OVERWHELMING */Archon Voice*
reaver drops. now thats some fun old school starcraft sh*t.
-
"I am the overmind. I control...."
What you hear when yer type radio free zerg (NOTE: works only on zerg missions.)
-
Darkness:  yeah
but if base is protected ... by lurkers or stuff - reavers wont live long.
What i really like is 12 siege tanks, and some valkyries over it ... total destruction.
Anyhow starcraft(broodwar) is great ! there are soo many possibilities ... so many good tactics available... Im playing the broodwar singleplayer over again.
-
:???: Isn't this thread supposed to be about FFX the movie. And errr, I've sent you the screenshots.
-
Actually, I've found that, even in Broodwars, a fleet of 16 Protoss Carriers with about 3-4 detectors are near invincible unless they are constantly attacked. But to be double sure, I always try and have 32. Safety in numbers, I say.
And if you want total confusion, add two Arbiters (Those ship cloaking vessles) make it complete. I've rarely lost with my fleet like that. (I think I was overpowered once. I was attacked by 3 people at once, and I barely survived.)

-
U mean hydralisks.
-
Since you're talkin bout things like that.
I got the demo of Star Wars Gallactic battlegrounds with much anticipation...............I was so dissapointed, the graphics suck, AOE's graphix are much better and that came out ages ago
Anyone else played it and been dissapointed with it?
 Cant wait for STAR WARS Gallaxies

Ok, I got the images Joey, sorry it took so long to get them up.
Unquoted:

Butt-face (http://www.cascaderulz.f2s.com/images/FFXFMV3.jpg)
If you asked me, they just look like shots from FFX movie sequences. What is it Joey? Has someone just recorded themself playing through the whole of FFX onto VCD or something?
-
Yes. And you should see Tidus when he is in the palace of ordeals. You get 2 see the options. If you want them(the VCDs), I can try to send it to you, but you have to wait until the CDRW that I ordered arrive.
-
nah . . .
Carriers aren't good unless you know how to use them. They take to long to build, I could have 3 times as many scouts as carriers in the same amount of time.
(and 16 Scouts will own 16 carriers. Easily.)
Reav drops are great. (especially if your opponent doesn't have any fast air units. You can really mess his base up.)
As far as tanks go . . . that's my favorite terran strategy. (although I'm not very good with terran. I try to mimic my one buddy who owns with tanks when he uses them, but it just hasn't worked.)
Joey: Hyrdra is short for hydralisk. It's a commonly accepted term.
-
I use cheats.
-
Sephiroth3D: then, to use some tactic stuff. Plague to your carriers. EMP shockwave to empty your shields. Acid spores from devourers. Ensnare. Maybe some nukes.
I like zerg becouse there are soo prety tactic. Ensnare with plague is great.
-
I only use resource cheats during the single player games. I use invinciblity if I'm getting mad-rushed by 50 marines and all I have is 2 Zealots & a Dragoon.
Oh, Tactics? You want Tactics? Try a fleet of 32 cloaked Carriers and 64 Illusion Carriers! You waist your energy with my clones, and then my real fleet carefully takes your threats out, then Boom! Your whole army &/or base is under attack! (Especially your SCVs/Drones/Probes!)
Have a Nice Day

Yea, test power~
...Well, I'd play better using Terran..
-
If you were making Carriers, you wouldn' t have enough units to overcome the fury of Mirex's swarm, Seph.
What you should do is (if you're playing Temple) put 1 zealot and 1 probe ON the ramp, and then surround the top of the ramp with dragoons. Get increased goon range, that way the dragoons will attack his units, and they will just run around mindlessly trying to get the dragoons.
Scout often, if he's going Muta/ling, go Archons. If he's going hydras, go Fast z / goon range, etc.
-
Ah - Reminds me of the good-ol'-days... Post one thread, and end up with something completely different.... Love it!
Never heard about FFX the movie! Is it possible to get it if you live in the UK? :???: If so, where please?
Who though that The Spirits Within wasn't all it was cracked up to be? Don't get me wrong - I like it, but the hype was too much!
Anyway - Have those screen-grabs been posted anywhere? I'd like to have a look at them.
-
Basicly, it's not a "movie" per se... It's a collection of the movies from FFX.

If you're Zerg, Hydras.
If you're Protoss, Carriers.
If you're Terran, Battlecruisers.
If you get enough fast enough... you win
-
Unfortunately, none of those methods (well, except the hydras) work all that well. BCs are power houses, but they cost alot and they're slow to make. A good fleet of scouts with fast movement can easily own BCs. The best terran strat is usually tanks & rines.
Carriers aren't all that great for most situations. I've owned them with marines (now, mind you, the person I was playing was pretty pathetic.) You have to know HOW to play them, and even then it's a risk. I never use them.
Hydras are sometimes good vs terran (they suck vs tanks), sometimes vs. other zerg. They totally suck vs. toss (fast zs tear up hydras). If you're playing toss, you probably should go Muta/ling. Protoss can't handle the constant wave of zerglings, if you send them by the hundreds. (unless they have archons. Archons tear up lings.)
-
The best thing to do when playing Zergs is to keep sending zerglings to his base while you build up your tech. After everything is built up, build a teleporter and a hive near his base. Then send in a wave of zerglings (a decoy) in what looks like a massive attack, have the zerglings go at it, then at the same time (actually, a bit later. Give him time to move his units...) attack with a fleet of flyers and sooped up Ultralisks from the opposite direction, going after their resource collectors.
He'll be massivly overwelmed, unless he's expecting you.

I have now a problem with zerg vs protoss, Im in last mission of Broodwar. Situation: im in the middle of map, above me and to left are terran, below me to right are protoss. I want to kill protoss first, coz they were nasty to me before  But I still cant. Any suggestions ?
I try with zerglings - they come with carriers, reavers & archons or mealstorm.
Flyer attack - mealstorm or Ice.
Hydras - storm or ice.
What should I do ?
-
Queens dude! Lots of Queens. Use their broodling technique on the evils you can hit (Templars, Reevers & Archons), and use those suicidal flyers (Scourges?) to take out the carriers.
It's the best method.

I watched my cousin beat that level... he maxed out completely with Hydras, heh.
-
Yawn! Boooooooooooooring.
-
seph: i think that you cant 'create' broodling from reavers nor archons (only ground nonrobotic units you know)
but scourges to the air is great idea.
-
yup. if you mod starcraft, you learn very quickly that an archon is a mechanical unit.
you guys.... mutas. lots and lots of mutas. you can get them in like 7 minutes and kill off a terran base before they have a bunker or tanks.
-
 Opps! My bad! I guess I'm wrong... But I remember brooding a Reaver before...
Anyways, I thought about it, and so long as they don't have nearby detectors, I guess you could screw over the land-based units with Lurkers. (Bring in the air support!) Another method is the take out the carriers with scourges, then bring in massive amounts of upgraded Ultralisks after using the blood-something (I forgot the name. I need to get my SC discs back...) spell. That way, you only have to worry about their shields. (They can't repair! Good for you, bad for Protoss players like me...)
But they always say: Know thine enemy, else you will be lost.
Maybe we should rename this forum "Starcraft Help"...

i think the best way to knock out a protoss base is with mutas as well. lots of mutas, a few devourers, and about 12 guardians will whipe out anything. you gotta love that splash damage.

Ultras aren't really that great. Even when fast Ultras, because they just take too long. They make good damage sponges, but they are TOO expensive.
Queens are excellent units. Ensare is a good ability, parasite can be fun, and helpful. Spawn broodling is also good, epsecially against a group of tanks. Just make a broodling out of the tank in the front, and all the others will attack it and probably end up blowing themselves up.
As far as the zerg missions in BW . . . try going muta/guard. I can't help you much there . . . I never was much for good strats against the computer.
. . . The one thing to remember about the computer is: once you find a strat that works on it, keep using it. Also, it generally always has a pattern that it follows . . . if you can figure that out, you're in good shape.
Try to micro against it. Maybe get fast hydras and spread them out for the carriers, unless the comp has lots of zealots.
Once you get rid of most of it's air, just fly mutes around it's base. Attack in short bursts and then fly off to another target, to evade its dragoons.
Like I said, I don't know how good this works . . . the comp can be a b*tch sometimes in those single player missions.
-
i loved the single player missions. far better than any person ive ever played. cheating is lame.
-
I disagree. Multiplayer is SO much better than comp. There are 3 main reasons why: #1: A human won't rush you with 15 marines just as you're getting your first Hyralisk or Zealot. #2: You can never predict a human's movements. His plans are different than the standard AI thoughts of SC. #3: It's the best thing in the world to attack his base and hear him yell out "No! No! Noooooo!!".
It just adds a level of fun that I just don't get when going against a computer...

the comp is just so much better than 99.9% of all players on battle.net
-
Maybe, but played last night, and I can't believe how STUPID the AI was... I went into single player mode VS the computer, and I waisted all 7 of my opponents. Not only that, but I was able to mind control both an SCV and a Zerg Drone. (The SCV was sent straight to my door step... I went looking for a drone, which wasn't too far from my 2nd base...) I mean, they sent it RIGHT TO ME, even though I'd destoryed the 7 SCVs sent before it!
The AI in Star Trek Armada is smarter than that! I can beat that AI in Hard mode without really trying!

hehe weird how 1v7 melee is easier than 1v7 ffa, huh? ill admit that the non-campaign maps are really really easy.
-
Starcraft is easy. Red Alert 2 (Brutal enemy) is difficult. Having a Yuri as an enemy in Yuri's Revenge is difficult
-
true, but IMHO RA2 sucks the big one
-
The comp sucks in SC. It always does the same thing over and over again. Playing it is boring . . . the onlly time it's difficult is in the single player missions.
Obviously you've never played any good 1vs1's on Temple, Darkness. There are many good players on b.net.
-
i did a lon time ago, the problem with temple, is that it is easy to master, and the strategies are cheap. sending a probe into your base? cmon! its way overused. even so, there haven't been many temple games on battle.net for the past two years or so.
-
Living enemies are allways bettter than cpus. But if you think that cpu is too easy in multiplayer, try meelee with two or more cpus (i cant handle 2 of them, only if there is some geological advantage in map)
And it this misson protoss are really terrible. They still build their units, if i attack in mass they freeze or storm or mealstorm me.
But those scourges work. (thx seph)
-
i can beat 7 melee comps on b2b'98 with no problems.... But everyone on battle.net is a newb, now.
-
Dark: I should mention that I was playing FFA. On melee the computer has an incrediablly nasty habit of teaming up with all the other computers in order to kill you.
Another reason why I hate the comp's AI...

hmm . . . Darkness, you've intrigued me. I want to play you, now.
-
the secret is photon cannons.... and dark templar. a lot of cannons and templar.
-
You know it just cant be done, 7 meelee. I dont know that map, but looks like there is only one bridge to your base ? If so, you can hold on for some moments. In start. But later on, when cpus start to attack with flyers .. no chance.
You know meelee means that computers sees whole map and they play as they are one player (they help each other). So no chance. When they have some small group of force, lets say 8 zealots they send it to you. Mutiply it by 7 players ... total carnage. You cant hold that. Or you have to only defend yourself, no expanding.
-
He's right.
If Cheating = True Then
Game = Computer.Death
Elseif Melee = True AND Player =< 1 AND Computers =< 1 Then
Player.Death = MaxComputers / MaxPlayers
Computer.Death = MaxPlayers / MaxComputers
End if
There's the forumula in plain english using VB code. There's no way to win in Melee alone against even 1 computer without cheating, let alone 7 computers!

oh, c'mon. its perfectly possible. b2b '98 (bridge to bridge combat 98) was one of the most popular maps before BGH. it has approximately 2 entrances per base, and requires expansion within the first 20 minutes or so.
-
I think that the dark archon's feedback can kill a queen instantly....
Question: How can Parasite allow you to control an enemy?
-
Joey: parasite doesn't allow you to control an enemy. It just lets you see what the parasited enemy unit sees.
Sephiroth 3D: No way to win a Melee vs. one computer? Sure there is. I can (sometimes) even beat 2 of them.
I could see how Darkness wins with the cannons . . . the comp is too stupid to figure out ways around them besides blindly wasting its units against them. Although 7 is pretty many, and is virtually impossible.
-
I have actually seen someone beat two computers in Melee, on the Big Game Hunters map. It was very difficult, but he walled himself in so the computers couldn't break though, and then did all Battlecruisers and whopped them. Any more than two would almost definately be impossible though.
-
bgh is even easier.... expectially with terran. supply depot the chokepoint, put bunkers behind them, and get seige tanks and a detector and youre set for the next 4 hours or so until you finally need missle turrets.
btw: zealots dont attack supply depots, theyre just like a solid brick wall.
[edited] 249 2001-12-04 23:26
-
Yeah that's exactly what he did. He played vs. Terran and Zerg, I think. The wall is very useful but you have to watch out for enemy Seige Tanks and eventually Nukes... which were his main problems.
ANYWAY
It's pretty impressive if you can beat two comps on Melee, whatever map.
-
in some situations, the defender's seige tanks can beat the comp's. wraiths or BCs are extremely helpful for defense.

I'll try to play a game with one of you guys some time. I'm fairly good, but I'm used to LAN play, not Bnet, so I'm as good when there is alot of lag.
And a serious pet peeve of mine: I HATE RUSH GAMES! I want a full on war, not a 5-10 minute quick kill.
-
i like rush... very entertaining
-
You want a long game? Try playing the N64 version. The N64's 90mhz processor causes multiplayer games to be VERY SLOW; especially with two people + 4 or 5 comps burdening the processor. The GPU was designed to do 3d, not DirectDraw type stuff.
But.....it does prove that the n64 CAN PLAY MOVIES, like the PSX. The quality may not be PSX caliber, but at least it plays.
-
hehe. it took like an extra year for blizzard to release that.
"Thank god for cold fusion!"
-
Starcraft on cartrige?
-
Yep. You're heard right. Actually, both SC and BroodWar in one cartridge! You only have access to the one-player Starcraft Campaigns if you don't have an n64 with the mem expansion pack.
However, they had to cut some stuff out; because of the size limitations of the cartridge. Only the opening movie is a movie, and its really shortened at that. All other movies, except maybe the final ending for Brood War (haven't gotten to that point in the n64 version; I'm hoping they left it as a movie) are rather slide-show type cinemas that give the basic scope of the events in that particular movie.
Also, all briefings are given as text-only, no voice overs accompany it, to my disappointment. However, a majority of the in-game unit speech used when they're selected and given orders is kept. Unfortunately, the scripted in-game voice overs during missions is again given as text.
-
hmm . . . we'll have to figure out a time when we're both on.
As far as rushing goes: you can try it if you want.
-
goku-> you get a bonus level with duran though. what more could you ask for?
-
Forgot to mention that. You're correct about the Duran level.
But, I'm not far enough into the campaigns to access it yet.
And, I should mention that on the small levels (map size 64X64, I think), the n64 version (which I'll refer to by its abreviation, SC64) runs NICELY fast. I'm talking about higher framerates than what I get in the computer version. On a 30 inch or bigger tv, those levels are execellent. Good frame rate and a big display. Now that's StarCraft!
-
I wish Blizzard had used a 64MB cartridge instead of the 32MB one they used. They could have used mp3 for the audio and MPEG for the video to save space as well.
Resident Evil is the best example of N64 video. It has all the video from the 2 disc PSX version...It is also 1 of only 2 64MB N64 games.
Yeah, the N64 is a bit slower, but not too bad. Plus using it on a big TV with Svideo looks pretty nice.
-
if they would put audio in mp3s it would save space, but it would take more processor time to play it, so it would go slower.
What secret duran level are you talking about ? Are there more secrets that I dont know about ? I know only about secret Zeratul level.
I would gladly play sc with yous, but i have lame net connection. Maybe if I would go to some inet cafe ...
-
I guess the "Zeratul level" could also be called the "Duran level" b/c it does have a bit to do with Duran.....
-
On 2001-12-07 07:48, mirex wrote:

Nah, N64 is good with compressed formats. Perfect Dark and Conker(the only other 64MB game) both used tons of MP3.
-
no... the zeratul level is on the pc version.
-
What is this Duran level on the N64 you speak of? Does it have anything to do with the mystery of the secret Zeratul level? (Can anyone say Starcraft 2?)
-
yeah, i think it does, i dont own sc64....
-
The Duran level isn't in the Campaigns. It can be found under the Custom games or the two-player games.
And, it's only in the n64 version.
