Title: Could you please...
Post by: Alhexx on 2006-09-19 14:16:41
... stop double-posting and ressurrecting dead topics?

I have spend hours and hours for merging double-posts the last 3 days...

Have you ever seen this nice (http://forums.qhimm.com/Themes/default/images/english/modify.gif)-button before?
By clicking on that one you can edit your previous post. (of course not by clicking on that button in this post, but above every single one of your posts, there is one, too...)

So, please do me a favor, and use that button in the future - that "Moderators-Merge-Double-Posts-Game" is getting boring...

Thank you.

Wouldn't this thread be better in "Announcements"?

That and stopping me from having a near heart-attack, as I often do when I see posts in announcement... They are either bad serious news, or a bad silly news in the form of a new member...

You broke the record, King Mod, but for some reason there have been about 30 new members and 5 current members who have all seen fit to ressurect topics in the last week and a half. As for double posting, that's been about 10 new members.

So no, you're not the only one. Just the most blatant.

No, it's already stated in the Forum rules topic (http://forums.qhimm.com/index.php?topic=1731.0):
Quote from: Forum rules
  • Don't make consecutive posts, just edit your most recent one if you have something new to say, unless someone else has made a new post in the same thread since then.
  • Don't resurrect old topics. When people stop posting in a topic, it's usually a sign that everything of value has been said. Thus, if nobody's posted in a topic for more than a week or two, consider it dead and don't post in it (unless you have an important follow-up or question exactly on-topic, and the topic is still recent). If you post just a comment on something somebody said ... chances are no-one will care because it's been a while since everything was posted.

Oh, and btw, just another newbie managed to triple-post (http://forums.qhimm.com/index.php?topic=6071.msg77411#msg77411) today...

I'm afraid the newbies are my fault.

(I'm serious)

I've been doing some evangelizing on some very popular gaming boards as of late, you know, to bring in some new blood. I'm trolling for developlers, but I seem to be getting the minnows.

Oops ^_^()

I'm not your fault.

I put the blame on FF7.

I think I fall into one of the 5 current members who have resurrected posts in the last few weeks.
I just hate opening new threads to ask little questions.
