This patch is EVIL! Do NOT use it if you ever want to hear a midi correctly again! It's official, it DOES repalce a windows system file. I have to use system restore to rid myself of this evilness! NEVER AGAIN! >:(
-
Yep, that's one of the first things I said in the FAQ.
-
i think i installed that patch, like, before i found this site :s
and yes all my midis sound off, you sure a restore is the only solution?
-
You can restore the original GM.DLS file from your Windows XP CD. Instructions on how to do this have been posted (more than once I think) on this site.
-
Well, i have no xp cd, my hard-drive came pre-loaded with XPSP2, heh, im fecked xD
-
the current version of the patch is supposed ot be reversible. therefore it should backup the gm.dls file.
just search for it on the net, i'm sure a site will have it SOMEWHERE.
-
well, im not particularly bothered about it, might fix it sometime next week, lol
-
then how do you make ff7 work in an Xp system?
-
Use the official 1.2 patch and the chocobo patch.

Use the official 1.2 patch and the chocobo patch.
...or you could right click ff7.exe and go to Properties-->Compatibility-->Compatibility Mode. Once your there, Enable it and set it to Windows 95. For me, that stopped ALL crashes even after patching it up to the kazoo (official 1.2 patch, chocobo patch, Hi-Res Patch, NPC Patch, 9999LB patch, etc).
