Title: Radeon 9600 and FF7 problem
Post by: Winter on 2006-10-18 13:54:01
Hi guys,

I'm experiencing a very high problem with my R9600 when playing my best game - FF7.
When I run it using riva tnt patch I don't see a thing, I can only hear sound of the intro (EIDOS and Square Soft movies) and then nothing happens.
I've reinstalled the game, installed riva tnt patch, installed upside down patch and later also set compability mode to win98/me, but still no good.

Any help plz?

Have tried software mode, has this had the same result. Hardware mode, which have you selected riva or tnt? You should also give full system spec as this will give us more insight. Have you thought about upgrading graphic drivers, or downgrading as this has provided more compatibility in the past . Have you tried pressing enter, when you get a blank screen, as this has been known to bring up the main menu. Do you receive any error messages? Also have you tried searching the forums as someone may have had a similar problem which may have been resolved.

For starters, set the Compatibility Mode to Windows 95 since FF7 PC was made when Windows 95 was out and was the top windows version at the time.

I have an R9600 and had the same problem Winter. Once I switched to Win '95 compatability mode and installed the patch you have, it worked fine.

It seems any Windows version above '95 will bitchslap FF7.

I don't get this, I've had multiple systems througout the years and had NVidia and Ati cards and never had problems...
