Post by: ultima espio on 2006-11-05 13:08:41
I think this is the right place to put this, from your KH disc could i get all of Aerith's files?

Yeah. You could.

Could you really do anything with them, as far as implementing them into the game? Maybe, but not without massive amounts of work and coding.

www.yaz0r.net has a dumper for the models, and there is a converter that can convert the dumped models to .obj

So from obj to 3ds to PCreator?  Sounds cool, do you know if it works with Kingdom Hearts 2?

Edit:
Oh KH2 is in the works, excellent!

If you were to have mentioned that in your first post, then yes, using Biturn (or a similar program), you can convert the .obj (I think) into a .3ds and use it with PCreator to import custom models.

It would probably be quite tricky, since Kingdom Hearts doesn't use even remotely the same bone structure as FF7.

If the author gets his Kingdom Hearts 2 viewer working, this would become interesting indeed.

Characters Located at Hollow Bastion(off the top of my head)
Cloud
Sephiroth
Cid
Yuffie
Aeris
Tifa

I'd probably take Squall also, just to replace Cait Sith.  :-D

There is a way to get the KH2 models.....http://www.deep-shadows.com/hax/3DRipperDX.htm

make sure your emulator uses directx 9.0c

I would use this to get the KH1 models but i don't have a PS2 or kingdom hearts so i can't do that.

And i'm not getting an iso just for a few files.

Doh!  My PS2 emulator of choice (PCSX2) does not support Kingdom Hearts II yet.  Anyone know of one that does?

On a side note:
I found that FFXI model viewer and I'm thinking of trying out some of the models in FFVII.  Has anyone had any success with this?  I want to try putting in the high quality chocobos in there and possibly some other characters as npcs.  (Taru kids hooray!)  :-D

Do the rest even run commercial software, for that matter? :-P

Nah, PCSX2 is the only emulator that got to run comercial games. And it seems that all the others are abondoned, anyway. Just wait for the next version. I think I've seen pictures of KH2 running with the beta version.

It sure does!  :-D  Check out their game compatability list here (http://www.pcsx2.net/compat.php).  Currently it lists 422 playable games, but this also counts multiple versions, (US, EUR, JAP).  My guesstimite would be around 350 games.

That's great news!

Ooops, sorry, I was trying to ask whether the other emulators are capable of running commercial software. Sorry for being unclear. :)

I've actually paid some attention PCSX2 development, but since my computer is bit lacking when it comes to running it, my attention has been mostly out of curiosity. :-)

EDIT: I blame Montana in any case. How long can it take to count some votes? :P

No apology needed.  Your English is better than mine, I missed that.  :-D

well, i'd help out alot if someone could give me a model dumper, or a .3ds editor for my mac, my PC is too crappy for that sort of thing (not that i'd use it for that anyway)
