http://q-gears.sourceforge.net/
It's UP!!!! I'm going to bed. I need a webmaster and a new Q-gears logo....
Anyone see any probelms, let me know...
-
Playing with templates could replace your homepage with a JPeg! ;)
LOL. Sorry it was too good to pass up.
It looks to be XMLized so you should be able to cut and paste links as needed?
I've been backing up a partition, that's been whining at me, for 4 hours so... (sigh).
In any case the left most partition
<ul>
<li><a href="#">Welcome!</a></li>
<li><a href="#">Current events</a></li>
<li><a href="#">Screenshots</a></li>
<li><a href="#">Downloads</a></li>
<li><a href="#">Collections</a></li>
<li><a href="#">Litterature</a></li>
<li><a href="#">Newsletter</a></li>
</ul>
Appears to be changeable
href='' <-- whatever is in the '' becomes the links.
So for Q-gears screen shots that might be
<li><a href="http://forums.qhimm.com/index.php?board=12.0'>Forums</a></li>
<li><a href="https://sourceforge.net/news/?group_id=165417'>News</a></li>
<li><a href='https://sourceforge.net/project/screenshots.php?group_id=165417'>Screenshots</a></li>
<li><a href="https://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=165417">Downloads</a></li>
Instead of what they have?
I hope that helps you?

I see that...
I'm working on getting the News RSS feed from sourceforge and making the page dynamic.
It's not looking too shabby. I was basicly told by the ScummVM admins that I should *REALLY* have a site for this.
-
I hope that email address on that page is for Q-gears only!
Spammers are a sick bunch they'll use it :D

I've been following this project silently for a good four or five months now. I have to say the progress as of late has been astounding. Congratulations to all of you :-D
The new site looks very nice!
I work as a web guy and do lots of OOPHP, give me a shout if theres anything I can help you with.
Again, thank you all for wanting to keep FF7 alive. I thought it was about time I registered and showed my support. :-D
-
Mmm.. as I see there are too small number of screenshots on sourceforge and they are not up to date.
You can take a lot of screenshots from my blog http://crazy_otaku.livejournal.com/

Isn't that like 'Wearing a target that says 'All your base belong to us' with DRM insane Japanese Lawyers around you?" ;)
Just kidding!
So they were tired of the place holder gears thing? Awwww. :D
Ahem Akari you've been busy, go to sleep already, since I know not one witt of Russian I had to examine the images only. Interesting that the walkmesh (visual) is somewhat distorted. Are you using Orthogonal or Perspective matrix when aligning the Background with the walkmesh? I wonder if it's pretweaked to 'look right' without perspective correction. Hmmmm.

Ok a few things...
Sourceforge can only hold about 6 screenshots, this means that a making a screenshot page might be in our best intrest. Forshmon, if you want to have access to the website, send me a PM with your sourceforge user name as I'll add you to the project. You can probably help make it so I don't have to update 5 pages to update one thing in the menubar.
Also, I'm thinking, we kinda do need a new logo. The current one is a little too close to Square's. That and also as we are going to be supporting more than one game, we should make it a little more original.
I'm guessing crystals, and when we have a game playable, light it with the colors from that game's logo.
And one more thing.... Looking at Akari's livejournal....
(http://www.livejournal.com/userpic/50169486/1138305) <----- Is that you!?!?
If it is... should I be keeping it a secret?

umm...

Logo wise I can make something photo realistic looking if you wish.
Although light projection into crystals is a bit unusual anything is possible with proper abuse of materials.
What sort of crystalin shape were you thinking?
Hint -> http://www.windows.ucar.edu/tour/link=/earth/geology/crystal_shapes2.html
Color of said crystals? different one for each game?
How about Green for FF7
Blue for FF8
Red or Purple for FF9
Yellow for Xenogears
halkun you really went through Akari's Livejournal.. I only saw the 'hand' picture. I suppose I was more interested in the messages (unfortunately babble fish and World Lingo is blocked by the livejounral web site because of the way they handle the URL/DNS translation <mutter>).
In any case ...
I err on the side of caution these days.
Rhys .. what has your post to do with Q-gears website or Akari You quoted the person and posted an image link ... ?

Sorry that I turned out to be not useful when I attempted to help with the webpage however many months ago it was that you had that competition.
I can be helpful, though, in telling you that you have an extra [/url] in every single page on the site, as well as some unclosed
tags in the news section (they should say
iirc).
-
So *NOW* you come out of the woodwork eh?
I'm not going to touch the webpage for a while, I have school again, but it was worth the effort just to get it up...
-
:D
What no answer on the crystal shapes?
Fine I'll do something (mutter) and swipe a few logos from games then we will talk.
I have a crystal generating Java based program I'll use. Tah.

Hone of those hex crystals with the pointy tops on both end would be cool.
(Sorry, didn't see you were talking to me)
-
Halkun, you wanted a webmaster, need any help?
-
I've got one, which reminds me, I have to turn on SQL....
I could use news casters, someone to post when a new release is out or what have you on the sourceforge page. I wrote the webpage to repeat the RSS feed from there. I think you can submit news as a non member and I'll approve them
-
So if I post news on releases (with changes as well?) it will replicate onto the homepage? OK fire away.
-
Actually, it would be up to you to "fire away". You submit the news on the sourceforge page and I will ok them for posting. You post what's newsworthy. The system should allow for HTML in the news posts and I wrote the RSS repeater to not filter the tag brackets.
For example newsworthy stuff is a Q-gears update from Akari, the posting that we are on some high-profile site now, significant technology breakthroughs (wiki updates), and halkun's total lack of a girlfriend.
You know, things like that.
-
Not to double-post, but this is kind of important....
If you are working on the webpage, you need to set the chmod permissions to 664 (665 for directories) so everyone else in the group and edit the file.
example:
> chmod 664 file.html
> chmod 665 directory/
-
Another bump....
Webpage is under constuction by a local webmister.... Editing has been disabled.
===EDIT===
Editing is back on. It looks exactly the same, but massively different under the hood. Now there is only *ONE* page to edit and the center content is dynamic. (It can found in the /content dir)
I have to apologize....
The php stuff for the select-o-thing on the left was cool, but not what I was looking for. I wanted to be able to only edit one template index page and only have the center content dynamic. (loaded like #include files) This means now we can add a dynamic screenshots page that uses MySQL and not have to make a copy of index.phtml anymore. If we need to add another content page for the select-o-thing, all that needs to be edited is the main index.
I'm happy with how it runs now ^_^
To forshman: Sorry, I didn't mean to change what you were doing so suddenly. I hope you aren't too mad.
-
I'm not mad at all mate, I hadn't understood what you meant.
Dont sweat it
-
Pssst! "Eidos", not "Edios". :-P
On the "Why The FF7PC Port Sucked"-page, four times in total, I believe. Not a big deal, but since it otherwise looks proofread it kinda sticks out. :)
