Title: FF7 error: Dose not even startup
Post by: steven on 2006-12-12 20:41:54
Well here is the deal. I just reformatted my PC and reinstalled the game. (I Made a img of all the Cd's and burned it onto a DVD a wile back) So I Put the CD img onto my PC and mounted then and installed the game through alcohol 120%  virtual CD drive. I then setup the 1.02 patch and try to play, but the game will just go to a black screen when it starts up and task manager says "not responding when I hit ctrl, alt, delete.

My system specs are

AMD athlon xp 1800+
MSI Mobo w/on board sound
Gforce 6600 gt video card (128)
512 MB Ram

I have the latest drivers and such, but I think there is something I did not install or set up right or something because I can't think of anything else.

My suggestion is to to install the game, from the originals, then use the original cds and see if you have the same problem.

Maybe it's this?

Quote
- nVidia users - the game crashes on startup when using hardware renderer.
SOLUTION: Try to UNCHECK nVidia box in ff7config and maybe you can use hardware rendering without it. If not disable 8-bit Palletized Textures in your graphic card's Direct3D settings using e.g. Rivatuner tool.

Or if this is a fresh install of Windows, be sure you have installed the TrueMotion codec.

got it to work :)

I did it by disabling TrueMotion videos handling by fddshow filter
