I used to be able to play FF7, i played with NPCRC; highres and much other patches.
One day, i wanted to play but when i opened FF7 i just saw a black screen. I can't ALT-TAB, ALT-F4 or CTRL-ALT-DEL out of the game, which normally should work. I tried reinstalling and using some patches, but nothing helped.
Is this a known problem, and if yes, please help me how to solve it
Thanks for all help!

Did you change anything?
Hardware? Drivers?
-
I dont think so...hardware must be the same cause its a laptop and i dont think i have any new drivers since it worked last... :|

Oh this is the famous issue with newer ffdshow.
Disable ffdshow decoding Truemotion formats... see other topics which have discussed this.
NEAT COMPILATION... has this covered as well.
EDIT: Also see "FF7 Movies decoding enhancement" for more useful info about this.
And please rename your topic right now to something like "FF7 Black screen freeze at startup" so those who are not lazy to search before posting would recognize this.

I disabled anti-aliasing in catalyst control center and now FF7 starts and i can play, but when i close it, i get a blue-screen :x
But i dont get the bluescreen everytime i close ist, only sometimes...
EDIT: I made some settings in ffdshow and since that i haven't got any bluescreen or black screen so i think this problem is solved. Thanks for all help!
EDIT2: OK, the problem is not really solved: I can play FF7 without FSAA and AF but when i enable it and start FF7, i get a weird black screen with vertical wave-formed shapes, when i exit FF7 (with ALT+F4), i get a blue screen and my Computer reboots. But i dont know why that is because i used to play FF7 with FSAA and have never had this problem...

Well, you could always try and install the omega drivers...
-
I have the omegadrivers installed anyway
-
Try the normal ones then :P
-
That shouldn't be the problem, cause i played it with omegadrivers and FSAA and it worked. Then i installed a patch for FF7 (dont know what it was ) and then i didn't work anymore, even after re-installing. But the problem doesn't have to be that patch because i hadn't been playing for some months so it could be anything i installed / changed on my laptop... But FF7 looks just better with FSAA so i'd like to find a solution for me...Does/did noone have such a problem too and found a solution?
