Hi!
I seem to have a crapload of free time at the moment and nothing to spend it on... and I was thinking of picking up my now 2 years old idea of making the FF7 Soundfont from the original PSX samples. I have all the instruments ripped from the PSX version and so now all I need to do is compile them all into a Soundfont and then edit the MIDI files and link them up to the proper patch and edit a few things here and there. This will also include the OWA lyrics. I could do this all by myself I guess but anyone wanna help out maybe? I haven't been here for a while so I don't know if I have missed anything like this but it's do-able!
Wheeeeeeee! Thanks for ya time! :-D

You're not the first one to attempt that. In fact, I have a soundfont started from several years ago, but I never did find all of the psx samples. Could you host them somewhere?
-
Yeah sure I could! At the moment I'm sleepy but I'll try to get them all uploaded by tomorrow! :-)

I can host my soundfont somewhere if you'd like to take a look at it, some of the songs (modified gm midis) were completely finished and sounded pretty close to psx. At the moment i'm doing Linux homework, so i'm a bit too tied up to find a host. I'll put it up sometime tomorrow.

wtf is a "sountfront"? :P

You must be seeing things it says Soundfont... I didn't change any errors I made... honest... >.>

Haha, look at the 2nd post's subject, it does say sountfont. At any rate, when I started this font I was using an sblive and vienna wave studio. Since then i've bought an x-fi platinum and I just loaded up the soundfont and there's looping errors in some samples like on the trumpet. This is what I have left. FF7 Soundfont (http://bin.mypage.sk/FILES/Final%20Fantasy%207%20Soundfont.zip) Awfully painful sounding when you hear one of those messed up patches. Also, I don't have all the FF7 midi's anymore, so I can't really test this out right now.

Hmmm that's really what I was getting at! I love the way quite a lot of them work precisely how they are meant to in the PSX version and that was the idea of what I was going to try to do with a little help. I can compile all the sounds into a sountfont, though I don't know if they need looping or not, and then re-patch the MIDI files to the sounds. Might need a bit of testing but I'd feel really happy if it all worked! ^^
