Title: Possible Jenova Problem: Nibelheim
Post by: OpDDay2001 on 2007-02-24 16:02:06
I've searched the forum (to the best of my ability since the Search function isn't working for me, for some reason) and haven't found a similar problem let alone a possible solution. So I figured I'd ask.

The problem I am having is with the Nibelheim Flashback. The one that starts with Sephiroth and Cloud verses the Dragon monster. The problem is that after using Jenova previously but NOT editting anything for characters 7 and 8 (they show up as Cloud and Sephiroth), they seemed to of become weapon less, even though they still have their materia equipped. After I noticed this, I went to correct the problem by adding back their weapons but noticed that Characters 7 and 8 (Cloud and Sephiroth) weapons were Cait Sith and Vincent's weapons (respectively). This creates a bigger problem because the game crashes when I get into a fight in the Mako Caves on the mountain under the Mako Reactor. I think it has to do with Cloud and Sephiroth not having the right weapons or something because it crashes everytime after that first battle against the Dragon.

Does anyone know a way to fix the weapon values for Cloud and Sephiroth during the Flashback?

Note: Sometimes the editor/game will equip Cloud with Cait Sith's weapons and/or Sephiroth with Vincent's which sometimes (but not always) causes a crash. It will do this sometimes, even when the editor shows the weapon field to be completely blank.

Edit: If someone has a save that takes place right after the Flashback that would be even better.

You can try a re-install but keep a hold of a save previous to the change made with editor

Ah, I got the same problem with Cloud/Seph losing their weapons. Just give Sephy the Vincent's first weapon and let Cloud be weaponless an' it shouldn't crash.

It's one of two severe holes in the Jenova program.  The first being that the stats page is buggered completely so you can't edit them (but the loophole being that you can give and use many 'Sources' instead).  This is the second, that character weaponry menus are automatically locked to those of their 'file', as Sephiroth and Young Cloud take up the data space (at least on Disc 1) of Vincent and Cait respectively, it only allows their weapons to be equipped, not the Masamune and Buster Sword they should have.
