Hey guys, I am soon going to attempt to play FFVII again on PC but my rig has been upgraded quite alot since I last tried. I have the following:
E6300 @ 2.8ghz
8800GTS 320mb
4gb DDR2 800mhz
XP Pro x64
Does the game behave any differently under x64? Pretty soon I'm also going to be moving upto Vista (have to use x64 version of that too otherwise won't get my full 4gb RAM) and need to know what peoples experiences are of that. I am contemplating using Virtual PC to boot Win98 or something like that to try and improve compatability of the game but the hardware still begs the question of what will happen as i really don't think nVidia are going to release 8800 drivers for Win 98.
I know there are all the patches but obviously just wondering what other peoples experiences with these are in x64 XP and Vista.
P.S I have the latest 158.18 nVidia drivers

I cant say if it runs in Vista/ XP x64, but look into this (http://forums.qhimm.com/index.php?topic=6569.0) thread and youll see why you wont be able to play FF7 fine at the time.

For Vista itself (let's ignore the graphics card) there is no known problem to me. And I'm running Vista 64.

Works fine for me in Vista x64. Like others have mentioned, the biggest problem looks like your graphics card.
You may be able to get a PCI GeForce2 or something and set that as the primary card when you want to play FF7.
