Title: My Own Special 56k Windows 98 Server
Post by: Darkness on 2001-11-17 14:44:00: Well, I got one running, but its VERY unstable. like it crashes every 5 minutes. anyone know of any good HTTP daemons?

Post by: dagsverre on 2001-11-18 18:37:00: chmod: Impossible on Windows, even if you FTP into a windows system you can't chmod because Window's security model doesn't work the standard way...running Win98 none of your files are protected anyway so it shouldn't matter.

Can't help you with your problems. You can download the official perl from somewhere, just unzip it to somewhere IN YOUR PATH. That is important. All the executables (perl, httpd etc) should be in the PATH environment variable, which is set up in autoexec.bat.

Also try searching on "windows apache howto", perhaps someone has written a howto on it and then most of your troubles should be over (if the howto author knows his/her stuff that is).
