Title: STICKY: FF7 Crash Play-Through Requests
Post by: Synergy Blades on 2007-07-06 16:57:12
If you are absolutely unable to pass a certain point, and have had no luck in searching (http://forums.qhimm.com/index.php?action=search) to see if there is a solution to your problem, then upload your save game to a hosting site, and post here a request (including save game link) for someone to play through the crash point for you.  :-)

Once you've got past the problem point, please post as such and your request will be removed to keep the thread size down.

Unfortunately it happened again at another spot...However I have a feeling it's just going to keep happening, I made a thread about the whole problem here. http://forums.qhimm.com/index.php?topic=6950.0

Sorry about this second request...but I'm having another problem.

I'm stuck at (disc 2) the scene when Rufus, Tifa, etc get on their airship after Cloud gives the Black Materia to Sephiroth. I'm pretty sure it's like a CD scratch problem because I've tried codecs and changing the game's compatibility and even watching the movie on my HD....The problem persists at the same place...>.< I think my video file for it might be corrupted

EDIT: Okay since there hasn't been any new posts regarding any fulfillment..my email is [email protected]

Hi there...after reading about 15 Threads containing "snowboard" and "crash", I finally decided to register here and beg for help in this Thread...
I was recently able to get the German Version of FFVII over a friend and managed to get it working up to the Point where you have to play the snowboard minigame. I have Windows XP installed and got to the conclusion (after reading about it here) that my Problem must be that memory issue...
so I crossed my fingers and tried it several times, hoping for a lucky strike...but nothing.
It crashes right when I leave the village. Every time
So I'd need someone to get me through that part, dunno whether there are some items I'd have to get, I'd just like to go on playing...

http://www.sendspace.com/file/ldaer2

That's my savegame, I'd kiss the feet of anyone that might help me with this issue...
(I hope you understood me, I'm just a guy from Switzerland with an obsession in FF7 ;)  )
so far, Fire

*edit* I kinda hope there's still someone who does this stuff... xD

You can try YAMP's MiniGamesPatch which includes the SnowboardFix. More info here (http://forums.qhimm.com/index.php?topic=5124.0).

Already applied, wanted to add it(the list of mods I use) in my post right now...you were faster ;)
Did help with slowing down Roller Coaster and Bike game earlier on, but I'm stuck with the snowboard thing now.

Here the Mods I use: 1.02 Patch --> HiRes Patch --> YAMP-mgp   that's all.
As I said, I tried everything I found, from compatibility mode to reinstalling...nothing...the game crashes

you can try...
setting - change resolution, video card, ....
dont use patchs, try old original EXE
set compatibilty mode...
a lot to try, but no one know if it helps:P

That's what I did, as far as it was possible for me...I spent around 6 hours at least yesterday and today, but I couldn't find a way.
There's a reason why I beg you to play that short part with the board...at least, I'd love to play the game myself, you know? ;)
And with most of the things you proposed, the game won't even start.
You know anything else I could do?

*edit* Seems like there's nothing else I might try...so once more I kindly ask for help, I posted the Link to my savegame again.

I am stuck the first time you enter at Tifa's 7th heaven. I hope it is a move problem, because I can't leave the area, it crashes every time, either going down to the meeting with barret of exiting via the front door.

As far as I know I HAVE to rename the minigames Files for the HiRes Patch to work...rright?

(I followed the instructions for the Patch step by step, I had to patch my german exe with the English patch and then rename every file.
It worked with all the minigames till now, but only the snowboard game crashes -,-  )
And to install an old win9x Version, I'd have to get a cracked one from the internetz...and I don't really like to go that far ;)

Still noone here that'd sacrifice a few minutes to get my Cloud through that part? ^^' I'd love to play the game through for the first time since I saw it at the age of 11 :)

No problem, glad to help, hope it works for ya from here on out.

I was reading through the earlier parts of the post, there seems to be a lot of people that didn't get played through, if anyone is still stuck somewhere, if you could re-post a link, I'll stop in a few times a week, and play through for people.

Cheers.

Hi everyone!

So someone else has the same problem I have now: stuck with the snowboard game (hey Fire ).
It's quite annoying to get everything to work fine except that part.
After several fresh installations and patching, may I kindly ask for someone to play that part for me?
Just down the mountain to the next savepoint. I even played Cloud up to level 52 to make it easier :-D

If I can help someone in return, just tell me :)

Thanks in advance :)

Edit: Okay, now he's level 54.

I wonder if anyone can help me by getting past this observatory part.  I don't have a way to put it online so can I email it to one of you fine people that help us out?  I've tried everything that's been mentioned everywhere I looked.  I've uninstalled, reinstalled, updated video drivers, loaded patches, etc.

I currently am running the 1.02 patch, Chocobo Patch, ff7betap1 and Windows XP

In the observatory, after the shooting star, it plays the movie, then it just sits there.  I can move Cloud all around, but nothing else happens.

Can someone please help me?  Thanks.

My email is [email protected] or if someone knows of a free hosting site where I can upload my savegame, then I would greatly appreciate it.

Elfiran

I have the pc version of final fantasy and at the forgotten capital when the waterfall shows and I go through it with the old guy the game will freeze. hellzscream, I'm doing yours.

But why do you have long-range materia on vincent? And why do some characters have two of the same materia (cid has two gravitys and vincent has two lightnings)?
Just thought it was funny. :P It's probably your first play through.

I saved right after the cutscenes. Here is what you missed:

Here's your save:

I renamed the save to 05 instead of 09 cause I have an 09 save already and was too lazy to move it. :P

The corrupted FMV (that's why it's crashing) can be skipped using YAMP version of Gypt (link (http://forums.qhimm.com/index.php?topic=5124.0)) - test how it works on some easily accessible FMV (like Eidos logo FMV). As for the crash in Junon (yes, you'll get that too) - just make sure that the avi splitter is disabled (link (http://forums.qhimm.com/index.php?topic=7200.msg89265#msg89265)). Of course I'd advise you to test this one too (the Gaea's cliff FMV should be ok for testing purposes).
Title: Re: STICKY: FF7 Crash Play-Through Requests
Post by: wankingprincess on 2008-08-04 07:43:55
i followed the instructions on the avi splitter and disabled the avi splitter (gabest) thing through the klite codec pack, ran ff7 and tested it at gaea's cliff but i STILL crashed ._.
Code: [Select]

Title: Re: STICKY: FF7 Crash Play-Through Requests
Post by: dziugo on 2008-08-04 08:19:05
Nothing happened because it won't properly skip that FMV... It should work with the Weapons FMV, and I told you to test it with Eidos logo FMV. As for the splitter, uninstall K-Lite and see what happens.

sorry!!but er the beginning eidos logo fmv is programmed to fade out whenever any key is touched isnt it?i pressed ctrl-s and all it did was fade out.i uninstalled k-lite, ran ff7 and got all the way to the bit where the highwind escapes from whirlwind maze then it crashed again i kept pressing ctrl-s but nothing happened
Title: Re: STICKY: FF7 Crash Play-Through Requests
Post by: dziugo on 2008-08-04 11:26:52
It will fade out if the Gypt is not installed. If the Gypt is installed, it will immediately skip to the next FMV (Squaresoft logo). I told you to test it on some easily accessible FMV, so you don't have to play 5 minutes skipping all the dialogs to get it crashed on you again, becuase something went wrong while installing. What about the Gaea's cliff FMV after the K-Lite was uninstalled? Because if it still doesn't work, you'll get a crash again when the Weapon attacks Junon.

Consult the tutorial in the YAMP's thread. If there were any problems installing it, check and see how you can fix it. Usually, the problem is that the user is running Vista, and didn't run the install.bat with admin priviledges. As for the codec problem, something is still interfering with FF7 - uninstall all the codecs, get it all to work and then install some tested codec pack (CCCP is known to be working fine) or just the codecs you need, one by one.

If a mod is reading this, a split might be a good idea :)

sorrysorry er i directly dled YAMP's gypt from the link given and i unzipped it with winrar and just plugged it into my ff7 directory so i didnt run install.bat at all.er how do i uninstall all the codecs and will that screw around with my com?my teacher will kill me if all my papers disappear

You can uninstall them using the "Add / Remove Programs" (WinXP) or "Programs & functions" (Vista) utility in Control Panel. It's up to you if you want to try that option though.

So am I right to assume that from all the posts I've read, a whole bunch of videos crash the game?

I see:
-Date scene (which is crashing mine right now)
-Cliffs part
-various parts of the weapon attack

Any others?  Is there really a point in playing this game all the way through if I'm just going to be skipping some of the best parts? Also, my videos seem to go much faster and therefore don't sync with audio. Am I right to assume that's happening to everyone else too?

I should mention that although I have a copy of the game, I downloaded a different version hoping it'd help some issues. I don't know if it's the "ultima edition" or something but it was 1.3gigs and doesn't require any CDs.  Therefore my scratched up CDs aren't affecting playback of FMVs.  1.02 patch installed.   I can assure you that yes I own my own copy. Proof if people are upset that I'm pirating an awesome game can be provided =).  And the FMV files are all there and as the originals. This seems to just be a no CD install where the registry is modified to view FMVs from the one folder and not the CDs. These same bugs were occuring with my CD install of the game, yesterday. The game works fine in software mode. The only issues have been the Date scene and the cosmo canyon scene.

Thanks

Where did you download this version of your game from?  It doesn't sound like Ultima to me.  It seems a bit too big.
Anyway, no proof should be needed.  Chances are, if you have 1.02 installed, it's your own copy :-)

And of course there's a point to playing it, it's bloody awesome!!

I think it may also crash at Cosmo Canyon as well though.  I don't know presonally, because thankfully, I never had this happen to me...

UPDATE: I've removed my request because I think I've figured out a fix. This worked for me for both the Gold Saucer date and the cosmo canyon boogen contratpion. I just kept alt tabbing in and out.. especially at the parts where I knew it was about to crash. Somehow managed to keep the game moving and not stall.

Hi. My game is stuck on disk 2 at the Forgotten Capital. (The scene with the ancient key) It crashes and locks up attempting to enter the waterfall. I've tried several different emulators and it cannot play past the waterfall scene. I own 3 physical copies of FF7 for the PS1 but like playing the emulator version on PC better. If anyone can get past the video scene of the waterfall for me it would be much appreciated.

My memory card save is located here: http://www.sendspace.com/file/rnq8xi (http://www.sendspace.com/file/rnq8xi) - if you can fix it -- please post a link with the new save and new memory card file on sendspace so I can download it. I can't continue until I can skip past this video scene. Thanks a lot to anyone who can help :)

This might be a stupid question since I don't like assuming people don't know what they're doing, but is your screensaver on, set to go off after being 10 minutes of idle, and are you playing with a joystick? For some genius reason known only to the developers at Microsoft, the joystick input doesn't count as "not idle"

OK, I've played through the save requests for the past 3 posts.

(Evildragon44, jtoipa and tehmichael84)

Incase this is your first playthrough, or incase you're not like me and can't recall every detail of the game from start to finish without touching it, I'm gonna give you a description of what happens from when I opened the save to when I next saved it, because in the case of Evildragon44 and tehmichael84, the next save was a little while away.

Evildragon44 :- "http://www.filefactory.com/file/9cf993/n/save00_ff7"
Opened the save, got the keystone, played in battle square for Dio, went to ghost hotel, went on date with Tifa, Cait Sith stole keystone, blackmailed guys with Marlene recording (revealed he was a spy). He gives the keystone to the Turks and the group reforms in ghost hotel to discuss their options. They decide to head to the Temple of The Ancients, located on the same continent as Midgar in the southwest region. I saved at the Gold Saucer save point on the way back to the carriage so your next destination is the Temple.

NOTE: - Your ff7 is a different language from mine. This didn't affect anything, though when I saved, the location name saved in English (Gold Saucer). Do not panic when you see this. As soon as you load it up it'll be back in your language.

Jtoipa :- "http://www.filefactory.com/file/b4dea7/n/save00_ff7"
This made me laugh rather hard. I spent a while trying to figure out what you meant by "get through the waterfall". The answer is, you don't go anywhere near the waterfall. Your next destination is the Chocobo Farm! You have to walk - on land - around the mountains to get to it. Look at the next dot on your map when it's big. There is no point in the game at which you can walk through a waterfall (except to get Vincent's stuff near the end). For this reason I didn't play through it. If you have problems with it still, let me know and I will, but the answer to your problem is that you're trying to go the wrong way ^_^

tehmichael84 "http://www.filefactory.com/file/78b9e2/n/save00_ff7"
Played through the Junon attack. Tifa gets locked in gas chamber, rumbles happen, scarlet gets knocked to the floor, barret tries to get tifa out but can't because its locked. Barret and Cait Sith decide to go to the airport. Weapon attacks, Junon cannon shoots it down. Didn't work, weapon attacks again and tears a big hole in... oh wait! Tifa's gas chamber! Freed tifa from restraints, climb out of said hole and ran to the end of the cannon. Where Scarlet catches up. The two have a slapping match and the Highwind comes to the rescue. Tifa runs to the end of the cannon onto the highwind. I saved inside the highwind.

Links to the completed saves are next to your names.

hi all...im new with this game. currently i am stuck at the Junon Weapon part ( Tifa & Barret execution). i currently using gypt & gyptNEW...and it *does* work when i crashed at Cosmo Canyon Laboratory and Aries's date in Gold Saucer before. :-D

This how i done it..

1- Open gyptNEW
2- Open FF7 and load the save files
3- Alt-Tab and press "guard" button.
4- Save the file (i confirm it when i went out meet the party at campfire outside)

However, i've been stuck at Junon, using all the methods refered at http://forums.qhimm.com/index.php?topic=4505.0 (http://forums.qhimm.com/index.php?topic=4505.0) but still no progress. Heidgger just blinking his eyes after gave orders to his subordinates.

if anyone could play and save my game till next save point, i would be most welcomed.

here's the link http://www.sendspace.com/file/y0h9x0 (http://www.sendspace.com/file/y0h9x0)

TQ all.

P/S : Mine FF version doesn't have any FMV, to make it simple when the scene Aries got stabbed by Sephiroth in the Forgotten City *spoiler*  :-o, i never saw it....just hug Aries and entering battle with that Jenova Life

I've decided to help play through some requests as well (I only did the ones requested in February because i don't know if the other people got their saves or found a solution) and im sorry i couldn't help the other person stuck at the flashback because i only play the PC version. If anyone has any more requests post here or send me a message, or if anyone who posted a request that still needs their save done, please kindly message me and I'd gladly get you through it

Ifris: I went to city of the ancients, used the key, learned that Aries had prayed for holy, learned about the Junon Cannon being moved and then left the city and saved on the world map Here is your save : http://www.sendspace.com/file/kjbcti (http://www.sendspace.com/file/kjbcti)

lenore_2410: Yours was quick and simple, i just went to the observatory and went through the cut scene, if its your first play through, its where he talks about the life stream and how everything eventually dies and returns to the life stream. I'd elborate, but you probably already know or can look up the scene on youtube.. lol here is your save: I messed up uploading yours, my aplogies, I'll redo the save tomarrow, as its quite late.

Hello all!
I got by the cosmo canyon issue with Gypt and stuff. Also got past the Aeris date thing, quite a handy program!

But there's one problem that I have no matter what. When I'm LEAVING Gold Saucer (after that Cait Sith incident thing) when I go on the tram to go the the temple of the ancients my screen freezes. If I alt-tab I see the FF7 AVI "chunk viewer". I've tried keeping it up, and nothing will happen. If I exit out of it and alt-tab back in to FF7, the screen in black. I hear the tram moving, but nothing shows up on screen. If I alt-tab back out and then back in again, I hear the tram moving again. Gypt didn't help this and neither did the Movie Patch thing.

Here's a link to my save00.ff7:

http://www.mediafire.com/?2loyz5cgtjw

It's the first save. Just go into Gold Saucer, get the keystone, skip the date with gypt, and get me OUT of Gold Saucer! Thank you so much in advance.

This is the 4th time I've played FFVII and I've never got to the 3rd disc either due to lack of free time and losing interest or the game crashing. Well I downloaded it for ePSXe and got to the ancient key waterfall bit and it crashed. I'm honestly gonna go mental if I can't finish this game. I've tried all fixes I can find and none work so I'm now begging someone to play through my saved state and just save state again when it's stable again. Please.

Ok, I just took care of Kelkoo's request. It should be in his mailbox momentarily.

Fermy: I tried to download your savefile, but Mediafire said it wasn't there. What's the story?

p2dc: You may have put your foot in it regarding one little technicality there. :-P If your savestate was made with the Platinum-version, I should be able to help you after the 10th, though. Even so, it would probably be much better to use .mcr-files for this.

(And before anyone gets any funny ideas, I've e-mailed some of the people at the beginning of the topic to see if they still need help. Have to work through the back-log too...)

[Edit] Also, I'm playing through the game testing some text-modifications I made. I've hit a glitch that happens both with and without mods, it seems. If anyone is interested, the topic I posted for it is titled "Showstopper glitch before flashback at Kalm" - right at the start of the game. (MIFFED!) I can upload it to Spacesend or something in a heartbeat, just send a PM to remind me, or something.
Never mind, I managed to get myself through. My topic shall be updated. Move along, there's nothing to see here.

And now cwtan should be a little bit happier.

Now Zeyta too is dealt with. Productive lil' chap, me!

[Edit AGAIN] p2dc: I couldn't use the savestate, unfortunately.

Im playing with an emulator (i own the game and a ps1, i just love the quickload feature) please help me, the game freezes when weapon is about to attack junon. I'd by very grateful if someone could help me get past the video.

heres the link to the emulator : http://www.emulator-zone.com/doc.php/psx/psx_em.html

heres my savefile : http://rapidshare.com/files/233355785/fgd.psv.html

EDIT: I've fixed the problem by swapping the discs before the cutscene triggered. You will get the wrong video but at least u can continue the game. If u wanna watch the scene i recommend www.youtube.com
I really hope this works for you guys! GL

Is the scene a movie?  If not check this out Aali's Driver (http://forums.qhimm.com/index.php?topic=8306.msg102263#msg102263) He has slowly but surely fixed nearly every problem encountered in the game.

So I'm freezing at the ancient  city when you put the key in.

Here's my save file

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=JETVTPPE

I wasn't sure which file actually had my save so I posted both.
If anyone can just get me past that cut scene that would be awesome.

Hi, I'm stuck at the part where after Barret and Cait defeated the attack squad(s) Rufufs and Heiddeger have a talk and Heiddeger oders the cannon to be prepared. The screen then blinks and Heiddeger walks down a few steps and everything freezes except for Heiddeger's eye which still blinks. According to a youtube video, there's supposed to be a scene during the blink and a sailor came up into the screen before Heiddeger walks down. Can anybody help? I've tried Gypt,Yamp and also tried to download the TrueMotion codec but they didn't work and the TrueMotion codec's link was not found.

EDIT:I've found the solution. I just remembered I downloaded an *** version of it and thought that since they put it on the net it must have worked properly. So I installed the game in another folder and replaced the movies in my game which were only 2 seconds and 3 kb. Sorry if it's not allowed but my problem is all of the movies are 2 seconds only. Sorry to disturb all of you.

Title: Re: STICKY: FF7 Crash Play-Through Requests

I've never uploaded or downloaded epsxe saves before, so take what I say with a pinch of salt ;-)

There should be a folder called "memcards" in the same place as the .exe for epsxe with files in it called epsxe000.mcr and epsxe001.mcr the first one has the saves from the first memory card, the second one has the saves from the second.

If you upload them to somewhere like sendspace (http://www.sendspace.com/) and post a link here, then maybe someone will be able to help you (no guarantees  :?).

Also, I notice that you posted in the gypt thread; that's for the PC version only  :-P

Hello everyone..

I have simply been googling everywhere on the net to find a solution for this and even tho I did find a few possible ones, none of them unfortunatly work,
which is why I come down here, sincerely hoping someone can help me with this.

Basically I am experiencing the same problem quite a handfull of others users have aswell. I am talking about the scene which triggers in the Forgotten City after Bugenhagen has put in the
"Key of the Ancients". When I want to walk with cloud into the waterfall, the game goes black and I keep hearing error sounds and I can't continue with the game..

Now is there anyone out there who could please use my save file and play through this little part, walk outside to the world map, then save again and (as last) upload the save file here again?
As a big fan of this game, I would so much like to finish this but due to this crash I simply can't right now.. the worst thing is that I actually never did finish the game, not even in my younger years when
I had it on the ps1.

BTW, I am using the PC version of this game but I extracted it to my PC into .ISO files so I can play it without the hassle of using CD's etc and atm I use an emulating tool..

My never ending grattitude is for the one who can help me with this..

SIMPLE SOLUTION TO ALL PROBLEMS:

http://www.fantasyanime.com/finalfantasy/ff7saves.htm

Just pick the one after the gold saucer date or cosmo canyon and you can play either from those levels and such, or just download a program and change the levels to match your own :)

Disadvantage: You miss the scene, but look on the BRIGHT SIDE: you can always youtube it!

What if you have the PC version?? Where do i find saved games for that? (and please don't say use PSX tools... it doesn't run on my system for some reason)
Title: Re: STICKY: FF7 Crash Play-Through Requests

I don't think it matters( not sure tho). This is what I did: I'm playing it on an emulator, so I downloaded the file I needed and put that file into my memcard folder in my emulator folder. Then I just opened it like I normally would and loaded it like a previously saved file.

Dear FantasyGirl,

Really appreciate the help here, the save I could use is actually right there.. but the only problem is, as you might understand, I'd like to continue this game with my own savefile instead
of someone else's, i have played this game for 2 weeks to get this far and trained my characters to the point they are now..

Could you perhaps please help me out? Could I perhaps pass my save file to you? Or is there anyone else out there willing to only help me get passed the Forgotten City scene inside the waterfall?
That's the only thing really..

*EDIT*

Actually even tried one of those saves, putted it in my memcard folder but for some reason it doesn't show up ingame so I can't load it.

Yes I played around with NTSC and PAL, didn't work... still desperately waiting for someone to help me..

Hi!  So I've tried laboriously to get through this game and this is the first place I feel I am stuck without recourse.

Where I am starting:
From the Tifa gas chamber sequence

Where I need to go:
to the savepoint on the airship

Explanation of the problem:
If I play through with the TrueMotion driver, the FMV of Weapon will freeze.  If I play through with Aali's FF7 driver, I can get to the airship sequence, but it runs so painfully slow that I have no hope of making it to the next savepoint (where I can thus revert to the TM driver).  How slow?  During a conversation I get like 3 letters every 30 secs, or if I change screens (walk though a door) it takes a good 5-10 mins to load the next environment.  I have tried the most recent version of his driver (0.6.8  ).  Gypt doesn't seem to do anything here either.

Version of the game:
English PC version

Savegame download link:
http://www.filefactory.com/file/ag5db9h/n/save04_ff7

Please help me to finish this game.

Thanks!!!

Title: Re: STICKY: FF7 Crash Play-Through Requests

I agree with that, but if there's an un-solvable crash in someone's game that they can't get past it makes sense for them to post the file here so that someone can play through to the next save-point and they can continue almost where they left off. It's really the only solution for some people - its not like they're not capable of playing through that part. Sucks for those that can't get the game to play through the iffy bits!

I'll do this in about 2 hours and edit this post with the link unless anyone else catches it first. The only thing is (if I remember correctly) the next save is after quite a long sequence but I'll post the details of what happens after I've played it through.

I clicked on your link, it says "this file has been deleted".

Ok I don't have a crash, but I edited Safer Sephiroth's model but don't have any way of seeing how he looks in-game.  I downloaded a psx save and converted it to pc, but after cloud says li...ght and the screen flashes, I get an error.  I'm going to try it without the opengl driver.. maybe that will work.

If anyone can up a known working save at that point I would appreciate it

I really need some help...I have my game saved right outside Kalm, just before Cloud's flashback at Nibelheim. It works fine up to the point where everyone leaves for Mt. Nibel, the "There was a mako reactor built on Mt. Nibel..." movie plays, it shows the party walking up the mountain path (although the graphics are a bit garbled), and then just goes black. I tried this on 2 seperate computers, one with the custom OpenGL driver and one without, and it crashes on both of them. Would anyone be able to help get me through?

The strange thing is, I installed it on a separate computer with nothing but the standard 1.02 patch...no FF7Music, no OpenGL driver, just vanilla FF7...but it resulted in the same crash at the same spot. I could try re-installing, but the installation on my main FF7 computer (laptop) took days to get working and I'm starting to think I might just have to download a save past that point and edit my stats in.

Try experimenting with the true motion video codec ( See miracle.flames' guide ).. I know this is an old solution but at least you have your options..
In fact I'm still using it right now in my laptop... but nowadays pips are saying its not needed but who knows ..It might help ya out....
