This happens from time to time when we're being crawled.

Forgive me but I'm unfamiliar with that forum term.

What is it the spiders are trying to do that generates "Nothing, or nothing you can see..."?

That is a good question. And I have no idea of the answer. :-P

Some Googling (example (http://66.102.9.104/search?q=cache:EqgLlkuzJ5QJ:smsforum.net/smf/index.php%3Faction%3Dwho+%22nothing+or+nothing+you+can+see%22&hl=en&ct=clnk&cd=9&client=firefox-a)) revealed that this has happened to other boards as well. So, whatever it is, it's not unique to this board.

I had a really quick flick through the SMF source, and it looks like it sets the 'action text' to be that which I mentioned, before it goes on to set it to a specific value, such as looking at a particular topic. Under some conditions, such as the topic ID being empty, no permission to view the action type, and so on, it'll stay as "Nothing..." etc.
