Answered question, please read my last post. >_<
That (http://img239.imageshack.us/img239/1954/73135101bl8.png) is what I mean.
The only thing I did was replacing the Japanese window.bin file with the European one in a Japanese FFVII.
Any info on that? .___.U
I never saw Japanese texts in window.bin @_@
Or maybe I'm completely wrong or something, I feel a little confused... xD

Hiragana/katakana is there, but only in the small text. It's neat that a drop-in like that also resulted in translation. Looks like they designed it from the ground up to be easily internationalized... Within reason.

I'm curious about something in Japanese FF7. Does the game use the system BIOS's kanji font or does it have its own?
-
Nope, it's in window.bin. Here, look in the lower right corner
(http://wiki.qhimm.com/images/d/db/Menu_PC_Textures.jpg)

So, is that... Thank you, Halkun!!! ^_^
I saw the lower right corner texts but I thought the game
used those only in battle menus...
Okay, then. I've always wanted to translate the Japanese version
because is more accurate and in the other versions some menus are "worst".
I wanted to use the kanji text bank to create icons
for elemental weakness' and status changes also.
Someone knows if exists a Japanese text table
of FFVII for using as a reference?
Or at least tell me how to extract or view image or
graphic files like the ones in WINDOW.BIN from the PSX version?
(I think I could make a CLUT file to use the real color palettes as well...)
I already managed to extract, view, and import to *bmp files the Japanese WINDOW.BIN.
So, everything what I need is a text table reference for the Japanese version...
Also if someone could tell me how to extract graphics of staffroll
or title screen files alike, from the PSX version I would be very thankful!! n_n
Thank you!!!

Meaning a .tbl? In progress; thankfully I got help from someone with proper kanji knowledge. I don't know when it'll be finished, though.

Well, then. Thank you for your reply!! n.n

hulkun - does that image pallette mean that FF7 JPN only uses that character set? From the looks of it there are Kana sets and maybe 1 or 2 Kanji?

Japanese version uses different characters. Right side of picture are the same, but left are different. There are three pictures of characters encoded using 3 different palettes that gives aproximately 750 symbols.
