Title: Question - Which RPG for a Movie?
Post by: Aaron on 2001-12-03 22:35:00
Here's a little fun question for you - -

What RPG (any platform) do you think could be made into the best movie?

i really enjoyed FF9. It could, if edited well, make a good movie.

maybe diablo 2 or chrono trigger, as well.

I think FFX would be great. It has already been recorded into a movie!

Let's see....
Uhh....Wing Com...huh....oh....That was done, and a total flop.

Half-life. (I think this is already being considered, by the big cheeses)
Starcraft
No one lives Forever
Fallout
The Longest Journey
Planescape Torment
Alpha Centari
POD (an old racing game....not very much storyline...but it would be intresting to see the concept being put into a movie)

Some of these games are probably not considered RPGs...but they have RPG qualities to them....Tomb Raider wasn't really an RPG game, either.....
and they would all have to be done, correctly. Think we all know how easy it is for them to totally mess up a good, story universe.

I haven't completed it yet, but so far Xenogears seems like it could make a pretty good movie. Most of the game's watching scenes for the story anyway, I'm over 50 hours into the game and am still on Disc 1! I don't think I've done any side quests or spent loads of time leveling up either.

I don't think most RPGs could be made into movies.  Movies are just too short for the RPG's storyline.  If it was some animated series then I would like to see FF7, chrono triger, and Metal Gear Solid.  Although, Metal Gear Solid would be fit for a movie (not animated).

I think Chrono Trigger would make an EXCELLENT 3-4 hour movie or perhaps a Movie Trilogy (Released 1 or 2 months apart from each other).

Actually, Metal Gear Solid 2 is already a movie in a sense. If you just replace the fighting sequences, you could have a wonderful 3 hour movie.

As much as I love adventure games (esp. the Longest Journey)  I have to disagree.  It would be very hard to make it into a movie without completely pissing me off.

POD would probably make a good film, it could be a little bit like that motorbike scene in tron (I know, I'm sad but I'm sure some of you've seen Tron)
