When I launch FFVII - I get nothing but a black screen, then it crashes...I'm assuming it is a resolution issue.
I have a 24 inch LCD, it cannot do 640x480, it tends to throw a fit.
So, I tried The SaiNt patch, and..this is the error I get when I try to run the 1280x1024 version of the patch:
Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item.
Doesn't matter where I downloaded the .rar from, tried multiple places, and the .99 version and the 1.00 version.
Any help would be appreciated in this matter :).
I also have Truemotion 2.0 installed...

Try running in windows 98 compatibility. As for the permissions issue, I think I read that in Vista even if you're on the admin account you still have to select to run the program as admin.
Your monitor being unable to display 640x480 is irrelevant, if it is a lower resolution than you can set it to, your computer will still display it but it won't be full screen.
Hope this helps

Im running windows XP.
I turned AVG off, detects the 1280x1024 version of saints as a virus.
if I try to run the 1280x1024 from the rar file..says it is corrupt..no matter where I download it from.
Has anyone EVER gotten the 1280x1024 patch to work?
Also...I tried to run it in windows 98 compatibility mode...Still crashed about 10 seconds after launching the game(with the 1.02 patch from eidos...)
Thanks for any help or advice in advance.

I use the 1280x1024 on my desktop and haven't had any problems with either hi res patch. Good luck with your problem

hires patch could be seen as virus by antivirus software since it alters your exe file. try to ignore this patch or completely turn of avg for the time of update. Eventually you could try second patch(the one with different resolution) the lcd should support it. I had problems using x1024 myself so I installed the other one.
