Title: o.o has anyone made an automated FFVIImusic patcher? out of curiosity
Post by: Mamoruanime on 2008-04-03 10:26:42
Hmm I havent been here in a long ass time, but I've noticed something...

Every time I've installed FFVII for PC, and wanted to use my PSF files, FF7music is horribly complicated, and even the tutorials are lacking (Theres got to be a step missing, I'm getting issues up the ass with ff7music.exe)... One thing I've noticed with the patching process is that it could all be automated; simple as clicking a button and having it finish... <_< I would write a simple VB app that modifies the files necessary (and I probably will once I install VS.net again), but before I even bother; is there already an automated patcher?

Meh if I take on the task I think I may make a library system with known soundtrack filenames (like zophar.net's psf rips, etc) and their associated links in the ini that the user can load when patching, but yeah... the whole process seems like it takes 100x longer then it logically should <_<... Automation ftw

Anyway, just thought I'd ask :P

I tried to use the FFVII music patcher, it worked horiblly....well that's not fair, I'm sure it works awesome IF you know how to use it.  I had a tutorial, but just couldn't seem to get the hang of it.
Damm those midis!!!
I wanted MP3, Tifa's theme, Aerith's theme, Seph's theme, and Those who fight were all I was after, the entire rest of the game could have been silent if I could get those bad boys in there :-P

I'll wait until I have a tad more responses in this thread before I decide to make an automated patcher for the ff7music patch (or rather an app that runs through the process step by step), but I may start the gui just for the hell of it :P

I think Myria Kitty was doing some work on the FF7Music, not sure what all has been done though.    http://forums.qhimm.com/index.php?topic=7308.0 (http://forums.qhimm.com/index.php?topic=7308.0)
