Title: Problem with models in general in FF7

But when they blink, the models appear to be fine.

This also effects the Shinra soldier battle model.

this seems like something went wrong with your textures... for some reason the textures on your objects are displaying as transparent, except when they blink and those textures are disabled... this isn't definite, but its a starting point... or at least a theory towards one...

Hope that helps somehow, and I hope someone else can be more specific with it... if nothing else, I'll serve as a *bump* so you get a better chance at more fluent help XD;

This exact same thing happened to me!

http://forums.qhimm.com/index.php?topic=7507.0

At the time I was using a ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT graphics card and any time there were any high amount of polygons in the field or in battle the characters' heads, torsos and general body parts dissapeared! This also happened with enemies in battle too. (Have any similar symptoms?)

Unfortunately, the story does not have a happy ending... I ended up having to buy a new nVidia graphics card for my PC. This was the only thing that fixed the problem. I browsed the forums forever but couldn't find any solutions. I think it was because I was using a CrossFire card... maybe...

Yep, chances are it's a graphics card problem I'm afraid, at least that's the only conclusion I could come to.

Sorry I couldn't be of any more help.

Notebook with ATI Mobility Radeon HD 2600 running Vista and the same problem. Tried to download new drivers (since this looks like a drivers issue), but it looks like AMD/ATI doesn't actually support this beauty (only place to download the drivers is the notebook manufacturer's website). Doesn't actually bother me, since I hardly ever play anything.
