Title: Yet Another FMV Problem :(
Post by: Shadowshamer on 2008-06-03 16:36:49
Hey guys. Lately I've been getting the "Field Models Don't Move In FMVs" problem that a lot people have had in the past. It worked fine before and it just seems to have appeared out of nowhere! Anyway, I thought I'd try the common solution posted multiple times in the forums and disable the Gabest AVI Splitter in K-Lite's Codec Tweak Tool, but I tried to run the game with this disabled and the game crashes as soon as I run it. I re-enable it again and the game runs fine but I am still left with the FMV problem.

Anyone got any ideas? The solution is probably simple but I can't find anything in the forums.

Thanks for your help!

Use the default Windows avi splitter. Not using an avi splitter at all won't allow movies to be started.

I installed K-Lite multiple times and changed the settings to try to solve the problem, on one occasion I set it to use Windows' default AVI Splitter instead of Gabest or Haali. This didn't work either, game crashed immediately. Is this the only way or is there another method?

Try installing the Directshow drivers from the FF7 CD. Also, include ff7.exe in the list of applications that the ffdshow codec is forbidden to act on (Remember to do this in both video and audio codecs). By doing this, you won't need to disable truemotion support in ffdshow.

Okay, things have now progressed... very slighty. I checked and ffdshow is forbidden to act on ff7.exe (video and audio). I also installed the Directshow drivers from the CD. Now when I run the game it flashes up quickly but then disappears again and that's it. Do you know what could be the problem now?

Are you running the movies from the Hard Drive? It might be a good idea to do so if you're not.

Yeah, I am. I copied them to the HD a while ago. There haven't been any problems until now.

As has been said, completely uninstall K-lite. Install CCCP to get divx drivers etc, and it won't frack with ffvii.

Tried it, still no change. Screen just quickly flashes on and off again like previously.
