Hey guys,
This is 100% off topic but I'm looking for some advice and I know I can always trust everyone here :-D
I am about to buy a new AMD. Things I do mostly are gaming, such as Crysis etc. and Emulation ( working on getting a good build to emulate PS2 so I need a really good processor for the job) and I should also mention that I use Windows Vista
Which of these processors do you think would benefit me the most?
AMD Athlon 64 X2 6400+

or the
AMD Phenom X3 8650

Once again sorry for being completely random :-)

I'd say the phenom, but I'm not sure if triple core processors are useful right now. I mean, when dual SLI ndivia videocards came out, they weren't very useful except for doom3. And when dual core processors came out, not many programs could take advantage of it.
This may not be the case for triple core processors, but I wouldn't know because I haven't shopped around for a pc in ages (and shopping around for technology is the only way I learn about new technology. :P)

Completely Utterly Off Topic: This is 100% off topic
This thread is the very definition of Completely Unrelated (http://forums.qhimm.com/index.php?board=7.0), so next time, put it in there.

Sorry Synergy  thanks for the advice auxili I'm going to continue looking around because I'm hearing a lot of different things

Why dont you go for an Intel-based system. A Wolfdale like E8200 can beat 2 of these AMD's ones in most aspects, esp. in overclocking
