Title: no sound in FMV
Post by: DLPB_ on 2008-10-25 07:31:00
Is PC version of FF7 lacking compared to the psx version?

When the sec. 7 pillar collapses, shinra is seen to overlook the destruction with Haydn's "The Creation" playing.  I had no sound effects or anything during the piece and resorted to using the psx for the dub.

-----checked the actual movie and it does have this data/  So, why is my sound cutting out?  Codec problem?

While we are at it, is there any way to add the FMV's of PSX version into FF7 PC (via new encoding)?  The PSX versions movies are of higher quality despite their psx encoding

To answer your first question, do you happen to be using FF7Music? I believe that this was happening to me while I was using it as well. Do the other FMVs with sound play fine? Check the opening FMV and see if its sound is working.

I think the answer to your second question is "not really". You'd have to encode them with the original codec (TrueMotion 2.0 or something; I believe the FourCC is TM20) and I don't know how easy the encoding half would be to find. Even if you could encode them with that, they'd look about the same as they do now.

ahh well pointless to encode then.  I have resorted to placing the original FMV's from the psc disc using editing software after recording.  Hopefully someone will write a hack to be able to play any codec, or a specific like xvid

Yeah the sound was there in the first FMV and then disappeared.  I have been using ff7music since the start, it is obviously affecting something...

This must be a more common problem?

I have just written a post about a similar issue but it's not with FF7Music, please look and see if it's of any help: http://forums.qhimm.com/index.php?topic=7975.0
