Hey, I found this forum after looking for help online.
I am trying to play FFVII disk one (CD-rom) on a vista laptop (yeah I know), and have been online looking for help. All help, however, seems to be based after installation. On my laptop, when I put the CD in, it goes to autoplay and doesn't give any option to install at all. I can view the movies etc by 'viewing files'. I have absolutly no idea what to do with this, and would really love to play the game.
I've included some screenshots to see if anyone can help me >: Sorry for being a n00b, too.

Are you putting one of the 3 game discs in instead of the installation disc? If so, that's your problem. Put the installation disc in and see what happens...
I'm using a vista laptop too, and for the most part the game plays wonderfully.

Oh God, I have no idea actually, as I'm borrowing it off a friend and he only gave me the first disk and said he'd look for the others. Now I feel stupid, haha

the pc does need a install disc to be installed first. Then you need disc one to play.

PSX Version: 3 CDs (Disc 1, Disc 2, Disc 3)
PC Version: 4 CDs (Install Disc, Disc 1, Disc 2, Disc 3)
So you need the Install CD, before you can play. You can start the game after the installation with "ff7.exe".
