I was looking into getting FF7 for PC, as I was interested in the modding, particularly the harder game, 5 digit damage/health, keeping Aerith, and better graphics.
I have two sources :
1) Copies of the pc version of the game, that cost between 75 - 300 $$$. Totally overpriced, and I am not going to pay that much for an old game that I have overplayed so many times.
2) A pirated torrent download. I never managed to figure out how to download torrents, and they contain viruses, and are probably illegal and/or pirated material.
Are there legal alternatives that are either low cost or free? If not, is there a pirated source that is easy to download and use, without any risk of viruses are system problems?
I found this here :

Do I need any programs to use these? Is it legal?

I'm afraid we can't give people any help doing this. Talking about downloaded versions of the game isn't only banned from the site because some pirate versions have problems like this; the illegality on its own is enough, and we don't want a sh*tstorm of lawyers from Squeenix on our backs.

Funny how pirated games aren't allowed but ripping, porting and violating EULA of Square Enix's PS2 and PSP games is just fine.
Using models from their games isn't allowed, just as making tools to extract them, maybe someone other than me will remember the case of yaz0r who coded KH1/2 and FF10/11/12 tools and then stopped working on them because Square Enix wanted to sue him.
I myself am not against this, just stating the fact that's kind of stupid to disallow talking about pirated versions when there's something much more lawbreaking going on than pirating an abandonware game...
