Title: Aeris leveling
Post by: guitar_dudester91 on 2009-03-26 05:33:37
Hey guys, quick question. Is it very hard to level up Aeris all the way to Great Gospel before she perishes? I loaded up the game again, and I'm as far as the Temple of The Ancients. So her death is right around the corner, and I only have her up to Seal Evil. Any way I can utilize all of her power? I know it will take a while, but thats okay.

Ummm, can I get any help?

Is it really worth it at this point?

To get the next limit level you need to kill a set # of enemies with her.

Well, see I have never got her past Seal evil before she dies, but you know that you can get her final limit. It even shows her using all of them in the guide book. So I know its kinda hard to do, but I was just wondering if anyone has really ever done it. I mean you usually wait till the end of disc 2 or disc 3 to get final limits learned, so I thought it was weird that it showed Aeris doing them on the first disc. Maybe the creators didn't want people to wonder why people couldn't find hers... IDK.

Yeah it can be done.  I've never gotten around to doing it myself.  Seems like too much grinding/time to get aeris of all characters lots of kills.

i thought the was a bug involved or she was ment to be gotten back some how orginaly either way it can be fixed now with wallmarket, but that would be cheating, cause the 4.1 limit is uber l337 so to speak and yes it is alot of grinding but think of it this way you can have omnislash first disc to along with most of the other 4.1 limits, but that kinda makes the game to easy after that

You can get Aeris's, Red XIII's, and Yuffie's 4.1 Limit Breaks on Disc 1. All the others don't appear until Disc 2 at the earliest.

As for Great Gospel, I usually only have her 4.1 LB for the Demon Wall boss. That's the last battle she can participate in and, for me at least, the most difficult without cheating. You can get Great Gospel right after getting the Buggy and it's best used for bosses. The ones after that are:
Gi Nattak, Lost Number (opt), Palmer, Red Dragon, Demon Wall.
It's pretty handly for Lost Number and Demon Wall.

Ya, but doesn't she have to learn the other two level limit breaks before she can get to the 4th level? I knew about Great Gospel, but I didn't think it was possible to level up everyone so they learn their last level limit breaks before disc 2 at the earliest. I tried to ged Red XIII to learn Cosmo memory, but I didn't think I could until he learnd the ones in between that......

BTW, this is just a hypothetical question. I'm already on disc two, so unless I start a new game, it really doesn't matter. Anyways, thanks for the help.

Limits aren't level based. They're kill/use based. If you kill enough enemies you'll get the 2-1 and 3-1 limits respectively. If you use 1-1 enough times (it's different per character) you'll get 1-2, if you use 2-1 enough you'll get 2-2, likewise with 3-1 and 3-2. The characters will have to know all their other limits (from 1-1 to 3-2) before they can learn 4-1.

The next WM will allow a user to specify a level X-3 limit break, though I don't know what will happen if you do.

Right, thats what I thought. So basically you have to kill a shitload of enemies with Aeris before she can learn 4-1 once you have it. That will probably take forever....

Sorry, but WM? I didn't catch that last part.

Right, but wouldn't it take forever to level up all of the limit breaks? Idk, I guess for me it would take a while to kill that many enemies on the first disc, before Aeris dies. Well, thanks, that pretty much answered that question.

I was able to get them my most recent playthrough (Just got to disc 3 today).
Thing is I was WAY overleveled.  Even now I'm level 60 going into disc 3.  At the point where I could get Aeris' final limit my characters were level 40.

It's pretty easy to ovelevel them when you use the Junon trick to fight disc 2 enemies on disc 1.  So yes, now I can say I've gotten her level 4 break, but at the price of pretty much removing all challenge from the game.

Oh I see. How does that go?

I use the Junon trick every time I play through.

When you're in Junon for the first time, theres a big machine thing that goes up and down? (I really don't know how to explain that thing) and you run underneath it, coming from the shops. You then come into a corridor. In disc 2, when you reach this corridor, you go right down the long stretch (there are shinra soldiers doing a routine in it at this point) to get to the underwater reactor. However at this point in the game (disc 1) you're just supposed to run right through and perform the routine for Rufus before getting on the Cargo Ship.

But if you run down the corridor, you'll see a red box on the wall next to the shinra soldiers. Press [OK] at the red box and an alarm will go off and the screen will start flashing red. Then if you run about in this corridor (and ONLY this corridor) you can get into fights with enemies you're not supposed to fight until much later in the game, and they all give high EXP (for this point in the game). Its a really easy way to over-level your characters early on. My process was to get Aqualung and give E.Skill to Aerith, that way she was killing all the enemies and thus getting her higher limit breaks.

As the enemies also give disc 2 gil, I used to fight until my characters had run out of mp, go to the junon inn, sleep, save, and come back and fight more. I only left when Aerith's limits were as high as possible.

And by the way - its better to do this when you can come back to Junon and you're slightly more levelled (when you get the buggy) because that allows you to get Aqualung from the desert and kill the enemies quicker.

Sorry for the long-winded explanation.

To simplify Prince Lex's post:

Junon disk 1, go to the corridor where you go to the underwater reactor, set off the alarm on the wall and fight disk 2 enemies. :-)

...I feel very silly now.

No its good. I really didn't know that, thanks for the explanation Prince. I'll have to do this the next time I start a new game. See, I'm at the point where Ultimate Weapon is floating around doing his thing. Thanks again.
