Title: When I Insert Disc 1 Nothing Happens

Ok so i installed final fantasy VII on my comp but when I insert disc 1 and try to run it it just blinks for half a sec and nothing happens.

I'm running winXP sp3

I've applied the 1.02 patch and high resolution patch.

I tried to follow this guide http://savvygeek.com/2007/10/05/final-fantasy-vii-in-restored-glory/

but the other patches were too old and I can't find it so I didn't continued to follow it.

Also do I need to install Yamaha? What's that for?

Oh yeah, when I just install FF7 alone without any patches the game runs. But after i patch the official 1.02 the blink problem is there.

I just want to fix the high res patch because I can't enjoy the game.

BTW i don't have any sounds when I play. Why is that?

What exactly happens? Does the screen stay black, is the game exiting right after starting, does your comp hang etc.?

My monitor blinks. I read miracle.flame instructions it said that if it blinks that means my vidcard can't show the hi res patch.

NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GT
Sucks though I thought I got a pretty good vid card

Try setting compatibility-mode to Win98/95. Also, I for one have been having problems with the high-res patch. Try running without it, if the compatibility-fix doesn't help.
