Title: [Xenogears] Extracting the textures
Post by: JeeWee on 2009-05-27 10:11:46
Hi everyone !
I read a bunch of topics about extracting 3D models from Xenogears, and a topic talking about the file system in this game (the link is broken by the way), but I didn't found anything about the scenes textures.
Is there a way to extract the textures used in the game ? I tried to scan the game with several ressources extractor, such as PsxMC, but I only got the still images used in the CD2, the maps and the facesets.

Since I'm not a game Hacker at all, I'm unable to get my hands in the source code of the game to find these textures, so I was hoping you guys might have a better idea of how to do it.
If anyone here knows a way to get these textures, he's my hero of the day :P

Thanks ! ;)

In the topic about models I wrote about textures.
Every tipe of textures (field, battle model) are in it's own format. They are very simiilar though.
But you will not extract them without programming knowledge.

Are there specific textures you're after?

I'm after the textures used for the sceneries: walls, floors, furnitures, etc...

There are pairs of files used for fields. First one (bigger) are textures. Second one geometry, scripts and others.
