I'm sitting at my computer, hard at work, and I've got a good number of firefox windows open, so I don't notice when, out of nowhere, a pop-up window (I wasn't even surfing...it must've been like...a time-release pop-up or something) opens up *while minimized*, and starts playing commercials.... Audio, video, the works. So basically after a solid 20 minutes or so of not browsing the internet, I randomly hear my laptop spew: "Dove chocolate is so moist..." and I'm startled, confused, and pissed off all at the same time...
Whatever, maybe internet advertising is a good excuse for piracy? That's how TV works, afterall
Random thread, I know, but it's damn near 4 AM and I've still got crap to do, so I just felt like writing some randomness to distract me for a bit.
That being said, it's time to get back to Combinatorics! :|

someone needs to update there popup blocker/ virsus protection
opera = less popups in the first place but if you like firefox a little bit of research will more then likely result in a better popup blocker
nod32 = less processor time for more betteror virus protection

too many popup blockers just hinders browsing. I remember on my old pc, i had to disable a popup blocker, the holt ctrl+shift and click just to click on a link that opened a new window!!! There's really no happy medium between completely covered and not annoyed.

I gave Avast! a try when my antivirus subscription was up this year. I haven't had a single virus since, and it hasn't cost me a dime.

Google Chrome is king... WebKit is the superior rendering engine (although safari is suck).
IE is forever lagging behind the times
Firefox is great for developing, due to plugins, but has major memory management issues
Opera is the unwanted child...

i personally choose firefox because of the free ftp plugin. Makes life easier.

i use firefox and adblock plus to stop ads, never get pop ups. the built in firefox one seems fine. i also like it because it's theme able and it has an all glass theme, i love aero glass personally. So the more glass i can have (within reason) the better.
opera doesn't have activeX needed to check my mail.
Chrome is made by google, and their tracking cookies piss me off to the point i refuse to use it.
Safari i don't like.
IE is the worst up to date browser.
If there are other web browsers that are up to date for windows i'd like to know, be more then happy to test

I only use Internet explorer because it loads fast on my comp. My computers supposed to be uber fast, like 2.5 MB a second when I formated, now its like 300 KB -1 MB managed 1 MB the other day. I have to format my computer but back up some stuff first...like my music and models that I am very proud of :lol:
