As many of you may know FFXIII comes out tomorrow and I plan on putting some time into playing it. So updates for the next couple weeks may be little or non-existant from me. Don't worry though, I will be back.
-
enjoy it. ;) If I had a ps3 I would want to play this game :'(
-
It'll be a while before I pick it up for my 360, probably pre-owned in about a month or 2, been hearing less than stellar things from a couple of mates who've been playing it already as a couple of Target stores started selling it on Friday.
-
I have heard that the 360 version is sub-par compared to the ps3. Which makes sense as whichever system any game was designed for in the first place generally runs better then the port.
-
I bet half the people on this fourm are doing the exact same thing XD I know I Will/
-
The 360 version is definitely sub par compared to the PS3 one. For one thing, it runs in a lower resolution: 1024x576 rather than 1280x720. Apparently, the movie compression really shows during actions scenes. For a game whose designers thought graphics were more important than content (they basically said as much when they had to explain why the game had so few towns), this is an even bigger complaint than it would normally be.
Thankfully, I have a PS3. ;D Nonetheless, I'll be following DragonNinja's lead and buying it second hand. This FF seems to be almost as poorly received as the last one, and if the rumours surrounding it are true, then it's everything I feared FF would become, plus a few other things I never thought would happen in my worst nightmares.
-
I'm getting the game in a few hours (Comes out at midnight here which is only 6 hours away)... But your starting to scare me! I'm really hoping to like this game. But I thought XII was decent :-o (Not what it should have been but decent), so I think that already puts me in the minority. ;)

While the FMV compression does suck, it looks no different in motion and has far less framerate issues than the Ps3, compromises all round tbh.

I went halvesies with my friends wife. We will be playing it the entire weekend
-
I'm about 3.5 hours in. I like it so far although I do have some concerns; leveling for example. Leveling is done in a manner similar to FFX's sphere grid; however, there is no need to collect spheres (or an equivalent). But what makes it truly different is that you only have specific portions available to you at a time corresponding to your place in the story...

Yeah, I think I'm one of the few people here that doesn't have an interest... Well, mostly because I don't have a 360 or PS3. I've got a Wii (and am DAMN happy with it before anyone expresses and dislike of the Wii). I just don't care for most FF games, tbh. VII is my favorite game of all time though =p

Don't feel bad. I'm not too excited about playing "NEW AND IMPROVED FFX" either.
But if it gets enough really good reviews, and drops to $20... Ill probably check it out.

I really want to play FFXIII, but I can't afford it. But since FFVII is the only one I've ever finished, I could go ahead and play any other game in the series for the time being. Suggestions?

try FF5 and FF6 unless you have issues with snes games

I was going to wait on FF6 until Changeling finishes his patch. I have faith in him. Well, that, and the official SNES translation is lacking and the fan retranslation is a putrid pile of pretentious garbage.
FF5, maybe. I'll probably play the GBA version, though.
-
ted wolsey's translation does have some charm, though its rather kiddish. (the suicide scene is teh epix lulz), and there are some questionable views in it. They refuse to say nething religious, from holy, to dieing or killing (some get through) yet there is a full blown teenaged pregnancy sideplot. :P If I were you go with the ff3 snes version, if nething just to get the old school feel to it.
EDIT: srry if i wasnt clear, i'm talking about ff6
-
6 and 9 were the only other ones I was able to get in to. 8 is meh. There are interesting parts to the story, but then there are parts that bore me to tears.
I wouldn't suggest waiting on Changeling.. he said he lost pretty much everything so it will be a while until / if he finishes.

Do you have a DS? If so, the remake of IV is a good choice... Otherwise V, VI, VIII, or IX.

The DS remake of IV is uncharming and ugly. GBA version is way better.

This probably should be merged with my "FF13 is teh awesom" thread. You guys need to get out of this subforum more. I've been neglecting hanging out in "General" too. It's not that bad...
