Title: Waitwaitwaitwaitwaitwaitwait....WHAT?
Post by: titeguy3 on 2010-03-21 02:57:42
Enemies can get lucky 7's too????

Garland never ceases to amaze me.

EDIT: Although I guess from their perspective, it's more like "Unlucky 7's"

Yes. They are subject to the same rules: their attacks become non-elemental, and poison damage is shifted up to 7777.

I've never seen that happen to an enemy before. Either that or I just didn't notice.

Come to think of it, it's actually only happened to my characters once in the 13 years that I've been playing FF7. Strange.

I remember being very shocked when it happened. I thought it was a glitch or something (this was in my pre-internet days). Tis quirky.

I only ever got it once (accidentally). And unluckily it happened during a normal fight so like....2 hits won the battle, and Cloud's health went down to 1 afterwards, which really effed me up since I was rationing out my items at that point, haha.

It's happened to me quite a lot of times. The first time I beat Emerald Weapon was using it as part of my strategy (of course, I can now beat him without it ;D); I remember using the old "use demi on x, then use mini on y, then have y attack x 23 times, then end the battle and use 3 potions on x" trick quite a few times :D

Unfortunately, it didn't work very well on Ruby Weapon :'(

I have an extremely old cheat book somewhere (from 1997) that claims theres a materia combination when Barret is at a certain level that'll cause his HP to be 7777 until he levels up. It doesn't work, I remember trying it at the time. Why the hell was it in a cheat book, I wonder? *ponders*.

I think it didn't work because the number of HP a character has at a certain level is somewhat random; it can't be anything, but there are a number of HP values that a character can have at a certain level; it's all to do with the slightly random nature of stat increases at level up time. Terence Fergusson's party mechanics guide (http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/psx/file/197341/36775) goes into detail on this. It must be that it was possible for Barret to have that many max HP with a certain materia and level combination, but not inevitable.

Ah yes, I should have remembered this tidbit.

I remember triggering Lucky 7's once when I was in the sunken Gelnika ship. I was like "WTF? Gameshark h4x?" Lol
Also, my bro tripped out when he triggered it as well. He called me up and asked if it was some sort of cheat or something and then he was unsatisfied that his health after the battle was at 1 lol.  :D

lol 84 tries to make it work.
But since it's a speed run i believe the time spent was worth it.
